Would you do a lateral flow for diarrhoea?

I started with a stomach bug on Wednesday night, it's now Saturday morning and I've still got diarrhoea 😩 a friend has messaged and said it could be a lesser symptom of covid.
I've not heard this before.
I know I'm just waffling but I can't believe how long this bug is going on for

Yes definitely dd had a bad stomach and tured out to be covid.

@Dashie

If you have any symptoms that might be Covid, you need to do a PCR test, not LFT.

LFTs are only for if you have NO symptoms.
This message doesn’t seem to be getting out.

And yes, diarrhoea and/or vomiting can be the only symptom of Covid, although could obviously be something else.

Please do a PCR test.
And I hope you get some rest and feel better soon, whatever the cause 💐

I don't understand about it only being for people without symptoms? Can you get a force negative of something?
icklepiglet · 20/11/2021 12:03

Yes false negatives on LFTs are common, they're not as sensitive as a PCR. They're designed to pick up some of the asymptomatic cases which would otherwise never be identified, but any symptoms need a PCR as these are more accurate. Makes sense really that the lab analysed result is going to be more reliable than a home testing kit.

the lateral flow is for no symptoms
you know that

it is pcr for symptoms

pompomsgalore · 20/11/2021 15:21

Can you book in for a pcr? Do you have a high temperature?

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 20/11/2021 15:24

If I had some I would, but I take them every week for work anyway.

Op what other symptoms did you have?
I came down with awful diarrhoea on tuesday morning and it only finished last night! Actually thought i might have a serious bug like salmonella or something at one point. No vomiting but a lot of nausea and still have no real appetite today. Just wondered if you are similar and if so hang in there it does eventually go away!!

Did you get a sample sent off?

@MrsLargeEmbodied you are not wrong. I've been ill for weeks and I'm not an ill person. I feel very low over it

Isababybel · 20/11/2021 16:51

@pompomsgalore i would have if i still had it today but thankfully have finally turned a corner! Sorry to read you are struggling to. If you are getting dehydrated do not hesitate to call 111. You really have my sympathy!
