Hi just wondering if anyone has successfull Vbac birth? I'm 39 weeks today with second child I had my first at 42+1 weeks via c section after being induced via drip and a unsuccessful vontuse. I understand they don't like to induce if you have had a previous c section but I had also read that the chances of still birth and complications are allot higher aswell the more over due you become and also the less likely to have a successful vaginal birth. I no I shouldn't read to much online as it isn't always correct info but I havnt seen my consultant it a long time so unaware of all the risks to both section and vbac birth.

I had 3 successful VBAC's. My first was born by C-section at 39 weeks after induction as waters had broken. However second ds was born at 34 weeks then third and fourth babies at 39 weeks. All 3 Vbac's were straightforward deliveries apart from second being premature. Hope all goes well for you.

Oh thats a bit of a relief then! I'm just worrying about going over my due date and then the risks getting higher.

You’re less likely to have a successful VBAC If you’re induced.

If we’re trying to make your body do something it’s not ready to do, it starts you down a path of intervention. Trust your body, you dilated to fully the last time, sounds like baby was just in a difficult position. The first paves the way - and this is a different pregnancy and different baby.

I had a successful VBAC @ 40+1 just under 2 years after my emcs @ 42 weeks.

You should be being offered sweeps, generally from around now. They tend to get a bit twitchy when you get to 40+10/12 but you can opt for extra monitoring as well.

If you want to go down the sweep route and you’re favourable, ask for sweeps 48 hrs apart, and make sure following a sweep you a) have sex and he finishes inside - the prostaglandins in semen ripen the cervix b) have an orgasm - this causes little mini contractions almost which, coupled with the prostaglandins, will hopefully start things off. Good luck :)

Also - the absolute risk of stillbirth after 40 weeks is small. There is an increase, but it’s something like equivalent to one additional stillbirth for every 1,449 pregnancies according to a recent study.

I had my vbac 3 days after my due date. Remember due dates aren't exact, just an estimation. My only advice would be to try and stay as active as possible from now on and get on all 4s now and again to encourage baby into correct position! (not sure if that really does work but worked for me so worth a try!)

Good luck I hope you'll be holding your baby soon Smile

I've had 2 vbacs: one at 37+3 and one at 41+3

They all come out one way or the other

Good luck

Thanm you everyone. Made me feel a bit more at ease with it all. She has been in head down position for 3 weeks and I have been having false Labour pains for like 2 weeks so I'm hoping by having all that it will go in my favour and I will have successfully vbac.

I havnt had allot of information about it from midwife team or consultant so I'm unsure on anything really I have a midwife appointment on Monday when I'll be 39+4 I'm hoping they offer me a sweep or at least check if anything has started to happen yet lol.
