This may be part of your answer. If you quit these stimulants it may be affecting your focus. Caffeine is the poor woman's ritalin.
Gosh. So you think I should go back to caffeine??? Shock

I don't know but I think you should do an ADHD questionnaire (you can find them online) and read up about it and see if it fits. It might be interesting to see what happens if you do up your caffeine as an experiment maybe. I am also a self help book addict and it wasn't until i read books on adhd that everything fell into place.

Have you ever had periods where you have got really into something, bordering on obsession, to the exclusion of other things?

I agree with the pp who said ask for blood tests to test for a deficiency. But also - 50mg of Sertraline isn't a lot. It's the lowest dose they will prescribe, and is often a starter dose that people can then build on. There's a sertraline support thread on here somewhere and people in there are on up to 250mg. So if you've been on them a while and don't feel they're working very well, I'd suggest asking your GP if you can go up a dose before you call it a day with them.

FWIW mine are working well for me, but I have noticed that I still feel lower now it's getting darker and colder - just as I always would have, but the low isn't as low as it would usually have been.

I also drink nothing but plain water and a couple of decaf teas a day, try and eat healthily, and get out for a half hour walk as often as I can. All of the little lifestyle changes might not cure you - but they absolutely support you in getting better.
