Pressure from course

I've just pulled back from a part time course I've been doing for the last 3 years. I'm in my final year, and have had a life changing event occur. It's not bad, but I've got tons of stuff to do suddenly, and I feel completely overwhelmed. My tutor, who runs the school, has accepted that I need to pull back for a bit, and possibly resit some days and put my finals back a year.

The school are being ratified by the authority who issues the official qualification we are working towards. The tutor is pressuring me to do a project ('not much work' apparently), otherwise the school won't get ratified. I already have miles too much to do and too much stress, to take on anything, even if it's 'not much work'. It's still work.

I just need to get them to accept my 'no', and if the school is then not able to offer the qualification, I think I should be entitled to my money back for the course. Surely the responsibility can't be on me, the over-whelmed, over-stressed, almost-dropping-out student, to keep the school open?

I've said 'no' more than once and explained why. Anybody got any suggestions about what more I can do? I'm feeing harassed.

Is this a university?

Does the place you are completing your qualification with have any official policies around extensions or extenuating circumstances?

Will there be other students who will lose out because of this

CorrBlimeyGG · 18/11/2021 13:11

Have you officially suspended your studies?

I don't know, and I don't think I should be responsible for the success of their course when I'm struggling even with completing my own.

It's been agreed by the tutor/school manager who is chasing me for this work. There's nothing official to be done in terms of extending the course. Other students have, especially in light of missed days/changes to course format during restrictions. It's all been very messy and quite poorly managed, which we've all been patient with, but that's caused stress in itself (changes of course location/syllabus at last minute etc)

If 1 student doesn't complete the course then it has this immense outcome?

It's not about me completing the course. My course is on hold, that's been agreed. But having put my course on hold, I'm now being asked to do this work to keep the course ratified.

It doesn't make much sense as to why this would be down to a student to sort out?

I agree. That's not been stated. They just keep phoning/texting/emailing and saying that I 'need to help out'.

I don't know how to say no other than what I've said and has been agreed by this same tutor: I'm taking a few months break and will be back in touch afterwards to work out how to complete my course.

That is all very strange.
