Two days in London - unusual places to visit?

I’m taking DD 18 to see Mamma Mia on a Saturday in January. We arrive into Paddington by train at 10.15 am. The show is at 3pm.

Can I ask for ideas to visit before the show, after the show we’ll eat and go to the hotel which is by St. Paul’s cathedral.

Sunday we can catch the train back at tea time so have the full ‘ish’ day to fill.

We’ve seen the usual sights, we aren’t huge shoppers. Bearing in mind the weather may be cold or wet being January can you give me some ideas where to go on the Sunday?

Museum possibly but not sure if we need to book now?

Thank you!

We love the Geffrye Museum's Christmas rooms. Also going to go to the Temple of Mithras (www.londonmithraeum.com/) when we're up in Dec as my parents said it's amazing (& surprisingly free - you just have to book your slot). London Eye's great (esp at sunset) if you've not already done that

Charles Dickens house is a great visit.

Christmas displays in Fortnum and Liberty even if not buying.

I love the Nat. Portrait Gallery. Lovey restaurant/coffee shop at the top wth amazing views. Museum is free.

Dennis Severs House in Spitalfields. An amazing experience if you like history

Greenwich is a nice place to wander round. There are a couple of offbeat museums including a Fan Museum, plus various nice places to eat and a nice market which is mostly covered.
You've probably been to the Cutty Sark already but if you haven't, it was far more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

@Justanothernametoday

Can I ask which hotel you've chosen *@Lightasafly* ?

I'm taking my DD16 to London for one night just before Christmas and want to stay near St Paul's but I'm having trouble choosing

There’s a Youth hostel near Kings Cross which is nice (and cheap). We got a family room, so weren’t sharing with anyone. I would recommend it.

The graffiti in Leeke Street tunnels under Waterloo station. Bit unusual but my teens loved it as it's Instagram heaven.

Opposite the Oxo tower there's a warehouse called the barge house which has exhibitions.

Brick lane. Good graffiti art and street food.

If you can wrap up warm (and it’s dry) these are always good. I’ve done a few over the years and never had a bad one www.walks.com/

@Justanothernametoday

I booked the premier inn Fleet Street. A bargain £55 for the night. It’s just up the road from St Pauls and has great reviews

Came on to say Highgate cemetery but have been pipped to the post.

I haven’t been but the Sherlock Holmes museum on Baker St always has a big queue outside. Also agree with Dennis Severs house and the Old Operating Theatre (combine with visit to Borough Market maybe).
