Driving lesson questions

I’m hoping some driving instructors can answer but please anybody who has learned (particularly older, rather than at 17/18) I would appreciate answers.

Would you recommend those intensive driving courses where you learn for whole days? If so, how many of those do you need? Or is it better to do it on a weekly basis for constant bursts of lessons rather than blocks?

If weekly, is it better to go for one hour or two hour lessons? How many one hour lessons per week is best, or how many two hour lessons is best?

Few things I should add:

I know people say automatic is easier but I am going for manual rather than automatic just as my choice.

I have never driven before so this will be completely new.

Also, I don’t have children to look after so won’t have to fit childcare or looking after children around lessons, so any of the above options are doable really.I know everyone learns differently but I am just interested in hearing peoples advice.

Thank you.

Book a trial lesson with an instructor, or block a few 1hr long lessons.
An hour is a long time when you are learning a new skill.

If you don't have any rapport with the instructor, find another one.

Definitely do a trial and no matter what anyone says, don't stay with an instructor you don't click with. I had the worst instructor and everyone told me to persevere with him. Massive mistake that cost me hundreds. I passed no problem when I found a decent one.

I agree with finding the right instructor for you. I was 33 when I eventually passed my test.

I did a block course but didn't pass at the end of it. I had to have several two hours lessons each week and lots of shorter driving practice in between in our own car.

Some people it comes naturally, some it doesn't but stick at it!

Thank you all!

Didn’t even occur to me about the instructor themselves and clicking with them so I will definitely take that bit of advice about trial lessons rather than jumping straight in with booking loads all at once

I've just passed at 31, I definitely recommend doing a 2 hour lesson every week, one hour goes by too quickly

I passed in an automatic in my late 30s

I'm autistic and a nervous driver.

It took me 9 months, 2 hours a week.
