Any opticians here, or can anyone advise. Sorry if its a bit long-winded!
I am short sighted and wear glasses (or contacts) all the time.
DS is also short sighted and wears glasses most of the time (he doesn't wear them for sport)
DD (15) was prescribed glasses about 3 years ago and has worn them maybe half a dozen times since then. She used to pretend she wore them at school but I know she never does because she doesn't even take them! Over the last few months she's complained she can't see things at school, or if I point out something in the street she'll say "well of course I can't see that because I haven't got my glasses on". I'm pretty sure DS glasses are slightly stronger than hers and she tried them and said she could see well with them.
We all went for a check up last week and the optician saw each of us separately to save time. The optician that saw her, told me at the end that one of her eyes didn't need a prescription, and the other one had the same prescription as before. I was surprised as I thought her eyesight had got slightly worse.
When we came out she said "you know when they ask you to read the letters or what you can see, you're supposed to squint, right? "
I said no you're supposed to say what you can comfortable read, and she said she squinted for all the tests.
I feel really bad that a) she has probably got used to doing that, and b) that the prescription might be wrong and we'll have wasted their time!
We were supposed to collect this week but my DS is isolating with covid so I've postponed. Would you say anything when we collect, or wait to see how she gets on with the glasses? (if she actually wears them this time!)
