Some people don't lose weight after the op as their food addiction is so great that they find ways to cheat the operation (pureeing junk food, not following guidelines etc)
It's not easy for many reasons. Mainly psychological. Obviously if you get to the point where you consider removing 85% of your stomach to lose weight you probably don't have a normal/healthy relationship with food and that's something you have to deal with.
There are no breaks. No cheat days.
For the first 2 weeks you are on a fully liquid diet. Then puree food for 2 week after that.
You have to get in 60/80g of protein a day which can be difficult and many people use protein shakes and supplements.
Take vitamin supplements for the rest of your life
Deal with hair loss due to rapid weight loss (and the lose skin that comes with it)
You still very much want to eat shit and 'slider foods' (junk, crisps) go down much easier than the high protein low carb you are supposed to eat.
You can drink anything 30 mins either side of food which is really annoying and that is for LIFE.
It's a real battle of self discipline against food and that's a battle I've never won before. Its tiring and disheartening being around family at meals, everyone enjoying their food socially and you can't do that.
It's just not easy at all.
