Making and selling basic jewellery - any tips or things to consider please?

Recently I made myself a simple necklace, after realising that I could make it for much less than it would cost to buy something similar. I've had lots of compliments on it, and a couple of people have asked me to make something similar for them. I'm now thinking of trying to sell some, especially in the run up to Christmas. It would cost me £70 to make 10 of the necklaces, and I'd sell them for £15 each (similar ones go for £20+ on Etsy). I'm thinking locally to start with - local Facebook pages and maybe a Christmas market or two if that goes well. Is there anything I need to think about before taking the plunge and buying the materials?

Are you sure there is a market? Or will you end up with a load of unwanted necklaces?

nickel allergy a lot of people are allergic to the nickel which makes up basic metal jewellery fixings and as someone who reacts like this its not nice its red and very itchy so making costume jewellery nickel free would cut down on come backs

Etsy fees
Insurance
Customer service time
Listing time (you will need to learn SEO for Etsy to actually make some sales)
Postage and packaging costs and time

There’s a reason others are charging £20.
