How do you clean rings with little spaces in between the diamonds?

I've got a couple of eternity bands that have little diamonds in with tiny spaces in between where hand cream and gross stuff ends up. I soak them in hot water and washing up liquid once a week and can get some of it out that way but not all of it! Is there anything I can do short of getting it done professionally every week? Thanks for any advice!

I have the same problem, I use interdental brushes to clean mine.

BruceAndNosh · 13/11/2021 17:27

I use a dental water flosser to clean mine!
Fill sink with water and jet the gunk out under the surface.
Check the setting for missing stones before letting the water out.

Old toothbrush, soap and water.

I was going to say the same, poke with a fine needle to loosen then clean with an interdental brush.

Pop into a little cup of straight alcohol. It dissolves the gunk.

I also use a toothbrush and have been known to poke with a toothpick.

Found that all the hand sanitiser clotted in the spaces in my ring.

Steradent tablets and boiling water.

Try it. Looks like it’s been professionally cleaned.

Use bicarbonate of soda instead of washing up liquid to soak them.

TheBodyPiercer · 13/11/2021 17:34

Buy an ultrasonic cleaner, you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon. It's what jewellers would use.

LittleLottieChaos · 13/11/2021 17:45

Don’t ever use an ultrasonic bath on rings set with smaller diamonds like ET rings. Pave set stones will literally be shaken out of their settings… (trust me, work in a jewellers… saw a colleague do this).

Wasn't expecting so many useful replies, thank you!! Will try all of these!

The jeweller I got my ER and eternity ring from cleans them free of charge. I take them in a couple of times a year

user1487194234 · 13/11/2021 20:28

I soak mine in vodka

I have one of those diamond dazzle sticks for my wedding ring. It worked fairly well for my engagement ring but it's not as good as when I occasionally take it to the jewellers for an ultrasonic clean. I can't be bothered to do that often though!

Thanks for the steradent and boiling water suggestion. That plus an interdental brush has done a pretty good interim job!

Oral B superfloss which is designed for using with fixed braces, so it has a really thin threader on one end.

No worries, glad it worked ok.

Cheap as chips too!

After doing it, I often use a toothbrush with a little washing up liquid.

The scum that sometimes floats to the top of my rings’ Steradent bath is grim 🤮🤢
