Child purchasing inapp stuff from ipad

I had turned off inapp purchases but he still managed apparently by resetting my account password using the Ipad. It's less than a tenner but how do you stop stuff like this from happening in future?

Biometric (fingerprint) and two step verification - where they send a code to your other device? My app purchases have to go through PayPal and every single purchase needs to be via password then security code.

Um, you tell him that if he ever does that again he loses the ipad?! My dc know they have to ask me about any purchases and if I say no, it's no. They would never do it without asking, especially resetting passwords to get around what they know is not allowed!

Eltonsglasses · 12/11/2021 22:25

Remove the device

BillDates · 12/11/2021 22:27

I'd be taking the iPad off them if they've actively tried to get round the parental controls like that.

MenaiMna · 12/11/2021 22:28

And yeah, obviously, big lectures and loss of privilege as other posters say! My DC only did that once age 6. Dare'nt do it since!

Thesearmsofmine · 12/11/2021 22:28

Take the money back via pocket money and supervise iPad use.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/11/2021 22:30

They'd not be playing on my ipad.

It's one thing accidentally buying something but the level of deception to reset your password etc would mean it warrants losing the ipad / pay you back

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 12/11/2021 22:32

If it ever happens again they permanently lose iPad access.

They'd gone to bed when I was called by the fraud team at the bank. I will deal with errant child in the morning but a definite Ipad ban is in his future. He's 8 if it makes any difference. On one hand I'm slightly impressed that he managed to work around the security. I'm really annoyed though you hear about parents who've lost£££ when their kids go wild.

I've got a phone chat booked on Monday so will see if I can get a refund. It's only £8.56 but still I work for that money, housekeeping in a hotel so for me that's best part of an hour cleaning two bedrooms/ ensuites. Equivalent to a days worth of food for the family. The gist of my lecture really.
