Toddler sleeping on the floor

Like, why?? What's the obsession? Twin1 actively climbs out his cot bed to lie in the floor. I assume Twin2 does too rather than fall out, but less often.

Every.
Night.

And sometimes they wiggle under the cot Ed and then wake up hysterical because they're stuck.

Is it just because they're weird? Will it ever stop? Should I jsit buy a double mattress and leave them to it??

My youngest used to do this from being around two years old.
Every single morning I would go into her bedroom to find her laid fast asleep on the floor with, for some strange reason, covered with a bath towel.
This continued for around a year, maybe a bit longer.
I still don't know the reason for the bath towel covering 🤷

If they can climb out of there cots then the cots have become a danger and they need to go. My eldest sleeps on the floor in the summer because its cooler - are they too hot?

Mine hated his cot. Maybe it’s time to move them into beds?

Mine also likes to sleep on the floor, I see him getting sleepy at nap time so I encourage him to cuddle up/lay next to me on the sofa but he just gets off and falls asleep face down on the carpet Grin

(I give it a couple of minutes and then scoop him up on the sofa/his bed)

If they can climb out of the cot, then what's the point?

Time for a bed. Even if it is a mattress on the floor Smile

Definitely sounds like time for beds! That said even when I moved my eldest to a bed he still slept on the floor! In the end getting a second hand car bed managed to sway him in the end Grin

They need a single bed each, with storage underneath so they can’t get under.

Gosh nice to see this thread this morning! My two year old kept climbing out of his cot so we put him in a bed and without fail by the time we go to bed he's on the floor. I feel awful he's on the floor and we even have another mattress on the floor but he still chooses to lay on just the carpet. However he does sleep, and if we went in to move him he would be wide awake and so we have been leaving him.. and he seems fine..?! But yes I feel guilty he's not sleeping in a comfy bed.. but he does have the option! Also wondering when this might stop!

My two slept anywhere and everywhere between 2-4. Under beds, half off beds, on the bookshelf, as a doorstop... a different combination of positions every night! I had to be very careful doing my bedtime check because of the risk of tripping or trampling on a random sleeping body Grin

The Build a Bear box night was particularly interesting...

DS1 in particular would make "nests" and snuggle in them. He still likes making dens and it's quite usual many years later to find he's lugged a laundry basket into his cabin bed (which he loves because it's cosy and sheltered) and some part of his body is in the basket.

They reminded me of my brother's teenage years when on a Saturday morning his bedroom floor would be strewn with the drunken/ hungover bodies of his mates that slept where they fell Grin

Glad my two are as weird as other peoples.
To clarify, cot bed with one side off. Room isn't big enough for big boy beds until we switch rooms. Can't xwitch rooms until they can be trusted with cupboards in their room. They can't. Their bedroom is two beds, a few cuddles and blankets.
