Never suffered with this until about 6 weeks ago and have had it about 4 times since...any suggestions of what could help. Am using the pessary and cream. I'm so uncomfortable...

If you have a partner they need to be treated too.

Stop using fabric conditioner
Start taking probiotics
Wear cotton undies
Stop using scented sanitary towels like Always (if you do!)
No bubble baths or strong soaps

Had same and it was utterly miserable. OTC doesn’t work for me, in fact it inflames everything and I was in agony. Two doses of flucanozole 3 days apart and some 2% steroid cream prescribed by the gynae was the only thing that helped. The cream started working in minutes, I cried with relief after weeks of my flaps being on fire. Good luck, OP

Ah thanks. Funnily enough, I only started using fabric conditioner in the last few weeks...hmmmm...

Meant to say, if you have some vaseline in the house, applying some externally to a clean vulva gives a bit of respite

After suffering from thrush most of my adult life I started taking high strength probiotics, about 50 billion bacteria per tablet. It took a couple of months before I realised it had gone away. Ten years later I religiously take them , lower strength but still 10 billion per tablet and occasionally get a bit of discomfort when I'm really stressed.
It's the only thing that's worked for me but I do also follow sensible practices such as non fragrances shower products etc.. I once had a really bad attack after using toilet paper with aloe Vera so I'm careful with that too.
It's so miserable but this really has been a life changer for me , good luck.

Try the capsule - Fluconazole 150mg you can buy it over the counter and use it alongside the cream.

Which probiotic please? I find wine or anything containing sugar triggers it. I can’t use any sort of scented soap or shower gel. I use Fairy non bio washing powder and Naked Sprout toilet paper.

Definitely fabric conditioner is a trigger. I only use the non scented sensitive skin Lenor for jumpers and nothing else.

I still get thrush sometimes but these measures help.

Freebird61 · 12/11/2021 10:47

I used Physis advanced probiotics 50 billion which I got from Amazon . I’m currently using Incite nutrition high potency bio cultures acidophilus 10 billion also from Amazon .
I can’t drink wine now either but I’m ok with spirits .

I have the same issue- definitely wine and sugar makes it worse. I've just ordered those tablets thank you!

Freebird61 · 12/11/2021 11:08

I hope they work for you, like I said it did take a while so persevere, they certainly won't do you any harm plus they boost your immune system.

PickupaPenguin8 · 12/11/2021 17:01

Reading the reviews, they have changed the formulation and its not as good anymore.

I have something similar - very easily irritated labia. All suggestions so far I agree with. Make sure shower gel us also soap free as well as fragrance free. Sanex Zero in the pink labelled bottle is the only one I can use. Or just use warm water.

33goingon64 · 12/11/2021 17:14

Oh and use Ecover Zero washing liquid for underwear.
