I've been bidding for 7years in the centrel Bedfordshire are with no luck at all, I was really hopefull for a property this week but ened up 5th and it's been giving out already. I'm just so annoyed I know I should be lucky I've a roof over my head and my children's head, but everyone I speak 2 Nd tell them my situation tells me oh it only took me so and so or I know someone who moved within months......
I share a room my 7yr old and 5yr old love them 2 bits but would love my own space 😢is there anyone with any tips or helpful advice? I've contacted my local mp who contacted the council who just gave me info sheets on private renting. Help 😓

I'm afraid I don't know how it works but occasionally see the local houses here hanging hands, it always surprises me when the new people pull up with a couple of new Mercedes and wonder if possibly someone less affluent should have been given the house over somebody who could possibly afford the private rental a bit more.

How many bedrooms do you currently have? People who get house quicker do because they are higher priority/ banding than you. In my council unless you are priority banding you are looking at minimum of 10 years

2bed small flat, so I share my room with my girls and my 14yr old has his room. There's just no space at all, I need 2 decorate but dont wanna spend money haven't got spare, just incase I get the chance to move 😔

Oh I see in my council you wouldn’t even be a priority (it’s 5 to a 2 bed for priority) so sounds like you are not in a priority band all down to banding, at least you are coming closer it sounds like so I would hold off on decorating for now I think,

How long is a piece of string?
I have a housing association house ,we live in the northwest we have lived here for six years ,it took a few months bidding to get the house ,but this isn't relevant to your situation, as we live in different parts of the country and different LA,s how long is the average waiting time in your LA ?

Donut22 · 10/11/2021 16:41

But that's what I struggle with I've never spoke to anyone who has waited so long in my area, everyone is always shock and then tells me it took them months to a few years top,

Have you checked the results of the weekly bids in your area? My council publish the weekly results so then you would see how long others have waited, 7 years wouldn’t be long in my borough of London

MegaClutterSlut · 10/11/2021 18:25

Can understand your frustration. When ever I bidded we were always 100+ on the list so I gave up. Your 5th! So your near the top so don't give up yet op

Donut22 · 10/11/2021 21:10

I'm not from London, I think London is totally different as in waiting times,
I was only 5th on that one has it was Abit in the sticks hard to get to without a car, if I bid on ones where I am now I'm anywhere between 15+☹
