Inspired by another thread were Belfast us getting a lot of love I'm interested to hear all the best things to do & see there in case we're missing out on stuff we didn't know about.

We've been several times. My first trip was way back in 1996 so Belfast was a very very different place back then.

Over the years I've visited about 8 or 9 times. We've been on our own & with dc. We like it as a city now & have been to the following:

Titanic museum
MAC gallery
Botanic gardens
University campus
Belfast city cemetery
City Hall (outside)
Shopping
Restaurants close to city centre
Pubs / cafes
We've stayed in The Merchant & The Premiere Inns over the years
The cathedral quarter

We've been to see the murals on both sides & not keen to do it again

What have we missed that makes it such a great weekend destination in your opinion?

Hoping to get back in early 2022

The folk and transport museum is brilliant, especially if your kids are young. You can get the train from the city centre to the station at the transport museum.

We have teens now but I can see how that would be a good shout alright. Thanks

If you haven’t been out of Belfast - definitely try to have a day out - either Giants Causeway/North Coast or Fermanagh would be lovely - Cuilcagh Boardwalk is on my list for one of my next trips

Derry is also fun for a day trip - the train from Belfast is very scenic in places - I’d definitely recommend visiting the Free Derry museum (although I haven’t been since before it was renovated)

Thanks @lurker101 I have travelled al around the Antrim coast a few years back & I have been to Derry too.

The Free Derry museum is really interesting

I'm more curious about how people say they love Belfast because there's so much to do in the city & I love hearing about new things to experience so thought I'd ask so I could check them out next time I'm there

I agree that the coast is stunning!

The Ulster Museum is good, and I second the Folk Museum. Also, there's an exhibition inside the City Hall on Belfast's history, which I found interesting.

Crumlin Road Gaol was interesting.

I drove all round the coast, round the Mourne Mountains route to the south, and round the Causeway Coast route up to the north. Best in dry weather, obviously. I liked Portrush because there's sea on all sides.

Didn't make it to Derry-Londonderry, but want to next time, and maybe more of the Mourne Mountains, and there was a linen museum, too.

The Ulster Folk and Transport museum is fantastic- a full size rural village where you can go into the houses and public buildings to see what life was like in the late 1890s/early 1900s.

Hillsborough- just been given Royal Status. There’s a “castle”, more like a mansion, with extensive gardens which are beautiful. The village itself has some quality restaurants and pubs too.

Mount Stewart- another outside Belfast. Large gardens set around a lake. Brilliant on a good day.

St George’s Market, city centre on weekend mornings. Local sellers selling good quality crafts (surprisingly little tat) and street food. Very easy way to spend an hour or two.
