Hi all
Expecting my first baby in June 2020 and currently living in Telford. I've obviously been aware of the issies with their maternity wards but didn't realise until today's report how recent and upsetting they were. Has anyone given birth in PRH within the last year? What's your experience been like? Considering moving my birth ward to Birmingham where I grew up but little knowledge about those maternity wards either. Any advice please

Do you have a link to the latest report please. I would be interested to read it in case we have another child.
I am in Telford. Had a C section 18 months ago. The staff in the high risk section (women's and children's unit) were all great. Couldn't have done more, really lovely and friendly.
I then got moved to The Wrekin maternity unit ( low risk in the older section of hospital) it was awful and the staff didn't seem up to date with the latest recommended guidelines on bathing, feeding etc. I am sure they are very short staffed but they were the most unhelpful ladies who didn't seem to care less than I couldn't get out of bed to get my baby myself. They didn't provide pain relief when needed either.
If you do decide to go to PRH please see if you can avoid the Wrekin maternity suite, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. My friend also went there about 13 months ago and unfortunately had a similar experience.
I have heard of people going to Wolverhampton and even Wrexham to get away from going to PRH

My appintments so far have been positive experiences but as I'm at a slightly higher risk I'm just very cautious of something going wrong. I've also considered Wolverhampton, just worried about the time it will take to get there with traffic etc

Thanks for the link. I hadn't realised that it was still so bad. Definitely something we will have to consider. Such a shame that this has to add more worry during an already emotional time

No feedback on Shrewsbury or Telford but I've only ever had good experiences at new cross (Wolverhampton) if you chose that as an option.

I gave birth 13 months ago at prh, consultant led, 5th baby, high risk pregnancy, care I had was excellent, I had a pph with my 4th also at prh in 2017 and also received excellent care and they was prepared in case this happened again. I had previously given birth at rsh in 2008,2010 and 2012 and although the care I had was ok I definitely feel things had improved with my 2 recent births.

Shropshire mum here, going back a few years now but gave birth at PRH in 2016 and was really well supported and had no concerns. Was induced due to obstetric cholestasis and had good support throughout pregnancy.

From the experience of a relative, who sued, the culture at Shrewsbury was absolutely appalling as long ago as 1984. I was amazed to read the BBC news piece today about the interim report. It is both heartbreaking and shocking that what was going on then has persisted for so long.

Some women and babies escaped the terrible care.
But is your baby dying and then being blamed for it a tolerable risk? No.

Hello Telford mums..
We are relocating to Telford from south of England and housing market is so much better.
We are viewing at new homes by Baratt and Taylor wimpey at Lawley ..other builders at Priorslee.. with two young kids what would you advice!? We see Taylor wimpeys are priced nearly 30000 cheaper than baratts and both developments are on either side of same road..? We don't get the point why ...
Also which schools are better according to that catchment..
Please advice .
Baratts garden is just 6 x 6 metres I think.....but south facing..
Taylor wimpeys is 8 x 10 mts again
