Would you have taken the time to put your trousers on?

A colleague had the call we all dread, her teenage son had been the victim of a crime involving a knife, although by the time she got the call it was all over and he was, thankfully, physically, unharmed.

She had been in the process of changing out of work clothes into her comfy stuff when the call came and dashed off to get him wearing just sweatshirt and underwear.

To be clear, I'm not judging, I admire her commitment and she tells this as a funny story, but I do think I'd have got dressed first, perhaps making me a less committed mum? TBH there's every possibility I'd have ignored the phone and called back, if I was getting dressed Blush

What would you have done?

I don't think anyone REALLY knows how they'd react in certain situations until they're in it.

I can well believe someone wouldn't think to grab their trousers and run out of the house if they thought their child was dead. Panic can do different things to people.

I've known a few people who leaped off the toilet and ran out butt-naked, screaming because they saw something.

When I was 8 my friend ran to my house about 10 doors away to tell my Gran (who was basically my Mum) that I’d fallen down her front steps and my ankle was “sticking out funny” (broken in 3 places). My Gran came running out in her nightie and her curlers Grin I was so embarrassed I refused to let her help me - we laughed about it for years afterwards. It was lovely really as she was so worried about me. BlushGrin

I can believe it. You don’t always think rationally

and THIS is why i wear pyjamas to bed everyone!!!

I've ran down stairs pulling my tshirt on so fast my boobs nearly fell out the neckline (damm cheap slouchy tshirt) forgotten my shoes and ran out in my slippers left my back door unlocked (but locked the gate)

So I can see how it can happen

(These were all different emergencies)

Well some of my sweatshirts reach mid thigh and some just above my knees...no biggy to just wear one without trousers

I was the opposite.

Got the call to say my mum was being resuscitated after collapsing and I changed tops a few times and put on comfy shoes.

I had my 3 kids with me though and had to wait for someone to come. If I'd been alone who knows, I'd probably have dashed out in whatever I was wearing.... and maybe I'd have made it before she died Sad
