Tinned soup. Tinned fruit. Baked beans and tinned spaghetti. Bisto. Tinned tomatoes.

Tinned fruit, peaches and grapefruit are the only tinned fruit we like. Baked beans, tinned kidney beans and chickpeas, tinned tomatoes, pasta, noodles, rice, lentils, tuna, oil- olive and sunflower sesame too sometimes, different vinegars, plenty of herbs and spices. Porridge, boxed cereals, biscuits. Sugar, flour, baking essentials.

I always make sure I have the following at all times:

Tinned tomatoes: whole, crushed (passata), chopped, paste
Tinned beans: chickpea, red kidney, white kidney, pinto
Dry lentils
Couscous regular and Israeli
Dry pasta: spaghetti, farfalle, penne, ziti, cavatappi and orzo
Dry noodles: ramen, udon, soba
Rice: long grain white and brown, basmati white and brown, jasmine, Arborio
Panko
Oats
Baking essentials: bread flour, white and brown, self-rising, plain, cornmeal, nixtamalized corn flour (masa)
Yeast, baking powder, baking soda
Sugar
Salts: finishing, Kosher, Himalayan, smoked, table
Plenty of spices
Dry chiles
Oils and vinegars
Dry fruits
Nuts and seeds
Popping corn for snacks
Dark chocolate powder for baking and a package of mini dark chocolate chips for baking and snacking Smile

Far, far too much.

But always lots of tinned tomatoes.
Jars of olives.

I usually do a big restock every quarter and get;

Flour - bread/plain/self raising.
Sugar - brown, caster, icing
Vanilla essence, baking powder/bicarbonate of soda.
Yeast
Pasta - lasagne, spaghetti, linguini, farfelle, macaroni, cannelloni.
Rice - basmati, arborio, pudding, jasmine.
Noodles - dried and straight to wok.

Stock cubes and gravy granules.
Stuffing packets
Olive oil
Rapeseed oil
Sesame oil

Herbs and spices

Baked beans
Kidney beans
Black beans
Chickpeas
Lentils
Mixed beans
Tinned tomatoes
Tinned corn
Tinned potatoes
Peaches
Prunes
Apricots
Pears
Coconut milk
Jars -
Pickles
Beetroot
Onions

Ketchup,
bbq sauce.
Sweet chilli sauce
Vinegar
Cartons of orange juice and apple juice.
Blackcurrant squash
Orange squash

I like to make sure that in a financial or any other emergency I can feed the family with no hassle. I'm not popular when I fill a trolley or 2 with all this as Aldi though Blush

Tinned fruit. Tinned soup. Tinned ravoli or similar. Instant custard. Jelly. Chicken and meat Gravy granules. Vegetarian Oxo. Marmite. Tinned Baked beans. Tinned Chopped tomato. Pasta. Rice. Flour. Olive oil. Dry herbs. Caster sugar. Dried milk. Salt and pepper. Breadsticks. A pack of Nuts. Porridge. Kids cereal. Tea bags decaff and fruit, and coffee. Hot chocolate.

Tea bags and coffee, for sure.

At the risk of sounding Peak Mumsnet, a jar of rose harissa, because it's a very easy way of adding a wee bit of flavour to lots of different dishes (bolognaise, cottage pie, even things like soup or mac and cheese, or some mayo in a baked potato) without buying lots of dried herbs.

Bit of an expensive initial outlay, at about £4 a jar, but it works hard and well and keeps well in the fridge.
