Those of you who are runners... (question about socks)

For secret santa I have to buy for a colleague I don't know well. I know she is very into running. Budget is a tenner so I thought I could get a pair of good running socks. I'd appreciate recommendations for those in the know. Thanks!

Another vote for Hilly twin skin.
I'd love to receive running socks, I'm always happy to try new brands. And if they're no good for running I can use them as everyday socks

Happy Stride look great - really fun designs.

I think it's a great idea for a gift - you might find them their new fave running sock! I really like Falke - but maybe look on Wiggle and see what's on offer?

Another idea

Sleeves - like two bits of tube for your arms. Utterly brilliant for days when you want to keep the chill off your arms, but it's warm enough to be tshirt weather later - ie most of spring and autumn. Sometimes called arm warmers.

The ones within budget on that link are dhb, which is Wiggle's own brand - I don't have the arm warmers, but other stuff I do have from it is good quality. You'd have enough change from a tenner to add a big bar of chocolate, which you could label as a post-race snack! Or get hi-tech post race energy bars from brands such as Clif

I would go for socks over sleeves or gloves. That will be the thing a runner needs to replace more regularly after all everyone would wear socks when they run, all year round. I've worn sleeves maybe twice and I don't wear gloves unless its really cold.
