Problem with wet room shower

Dd is in university accommodation. Her small ensuite is a tiny wet room. When she runs the shower the water floods around the loo, soaks mats etc and goes into her bedroom. She's spending a lot of time mopping up. Others have the same issue, but reporting it to the university has proved pointless. In an attempt to help from a distance we have found products which look as though they might help. Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions.

Could the drain be blocked? A wet room should be sloped towards the drain and shouldn't overflow. My wet room has a shower curtain, would that be possible?

I had this with my wet room I have take off the shower drain lid as there is such a tiny gap when it on doesn’t go down fast enough. I also used a barrier around the shower. It helps if you use the shower as a hand hold and always towards drain corner.

Thank you for your replies. Don't think the concept works well in a small space at all, definitely wouldn't have one at home. She has a good shower curtain, we replaced the skimpy standard one, and removed the drain cover put a hair trap . There's a pumber on the case now, possibly a blockage further back in the pipes. Hopefully the the whole shared system is going to be looked at, and housekeeping are lending her a dehumidifier. Definitely think a barrier will help in future. Which sort did you get 2020?

I got flat version of plastic barrier but enough stop water flowing back but I could move it to clean as not stuck down. Fingers crossed the uni sort as it’s going cost far more in damage over even one term.

That sounds ideal. Can you recall the brand please,? The ones i have seen seem to need sticking down with silicone, or if they are self adhesive reviews day the water leaks! Thank you.

It was years back can’t find exactly the name but something like for garages. Some come with sticky strip but like you say you just want something lay flat and can pick up.
