23 weeks pregnant and the room is spinning

Has anybody had this in their pregnancy? I went to bed early last night because I felt really dizzy. I thought I'd sleep it off but I woke up at 3am with the room spinning like I'd been drinking heavily.

Same thing this morning. I've woken up unsteady on my feet and dizzy. I've been sick and I haven't been able to eat or drink anything.

I phoned the midwife at 8.30 and she said she'd call back but I haven't heard anything yet.

My partner is at work and I'm just feeling really alone. I don't know how to help myself.

The Internet has mixed advice so I wondered if any of you had this - did it last long, could you self-treat in any way?

I get vertigo every time I'm pregnant. It can be treated in pregnancy, but can take a little while to settle.

You need to give your GP a ring.

In the meantime, you need to rest!

I'd ring the GP.
As pp sounds like vertigo.
Is your partner able to come and wfh? Or family around to pop in?

heldinadream · 04/11/2021 10:08

It could be totally unrelated to you being pregnant. It sounds to me like it could be labyrinthitis. Especially as you've actually been sick I'd say get medical attention if you can - if the midwives are not responding try your GP or 111 (is it 111 I never remember? - but you know what I mean.)
Can you lie down and nibble at something like toast OP?

Sorry you experience this too but this is really reassuring to read. I feel like i'm dying.

No @Moonshine11 I really wish they could but I live a long way from my family and friends and DH is working 'on location' so I'm just stuck with myself.

We do have men working on the house today so I'm not literally alone but I don't exactly want them to run me a bath or make me a cup of tea.

Horrible feeling it is. I'll give the gp a ring.

I spoke to the midwife. She's bringing me a urine sample collection pot as she thinks it might be related to a urinary tract infection?

Sucks, whatever it is.

Are you feeling any better OP?

RacketeerRalph · 04/11/2021 15:13

I'm not pregnant but currently have vertigo, it's horrible!

OrangeJuiceAndNoodles · 04/11/2021 21:38

The midwife came over and she said that my symptoms were not typical for pregnancy, so she said it could be a weird bug.

What's causing your vertigo @RacketeerRalph (if you know) ? Is that a bug or something else?

I had this at 12 weeks. It's awful, so sorry you're going through it too. I managed to get an appt with my GP the same day and he prescribed me something (would be helpful if I could remember what it was!) but the worst of it passed within 24 hours anyway. I still felt a bit off the next day but at least the room wasn't spinning anymore. Hope you feel better soon x
