I am looking to book little break for dh, me and dd who will be 11 for next spring 2023.

Can anyone give me any tips about how to do it cheap etc where to stay , what to do etc please

Both me and Dh have been but not together. Dh went for one day as he was passing through on a student tour and I went with me Mum who let the travel agent choose and book everything.

I've booked for April. Through BA as their packages seemed cheaper than hooking separately. Think prices have gone up since I booked though.

I live in NYC! Anything specific I can help with?

My general advice is stay the fuck away from Times Square. Visit and then leave.

We booked a package for April with BA last Monday and got a really good deal (£1,300 for flights and hotel when the hotel alone on booking.com was over £1k£) but they had a sale on which I think ended on the 27th which is why prices have probably gone up since you looked Sad.

@Newnormal99 sorry just realised you said you have booked! I read it wrong and though you had looked but not booked.

I booked in sale in April. Seems to have gone up about 15-20% since then. I paid £1200pp for flights, 6 nights in a junior suite at the knickerbocker and premium economy back (big birthday hence the splashing out - our usually budget is usually less than the price of one person for a break away!)

Ba looks really good. It's for during the Easter hols 2023.

Any recommendations for places to stay, nothing to flashy, clean bathroom and bed,

Things to do

*carriage ride in central park
*boat to liberty island

  • Rockefeller centre
  • shopping for dd11
  • show on Broadway

Any other ideas?

For cheap or free family activities, check out these instagrams:

They all have great, free family programming and it's mostly stuff only locals know about/go to. I'd also take a look at Time Out New York before you go - they always have listings of free and cheap things.

Chelsea Market is always worth a visit, as is the Highline. Both often have free programming.

Difficult for me to suggest cheap eats as who knows what's going to survive the winter? I rate Los Tacos No1 though Grin. Do you want in eat? Grab and go?

I took my boys - they loved it. Their favourite things were Spyscape (great spy museum), Top of the Rock, Brooklyn Zoo (was v peaceful after all the busyness of Time Sq) and eating pizza at Grimaldi's.
