Should I opt out of my pension

I'm living hand to mouth at the moment. Literally ran out of money last month and had to make £20 last a week. I've always paid into a pension (NHS) but now i'm thinking that I should opt out for a year and clear down some debts. What happens if I opt out? Do I lose all the money i've paid in?

OP following my earlier advice as I thought overtime was an option.

Could you do bank clinical hours? Or even temp evening work over christmas period if your older kids can support babysitting? This could help you build up a few funds to ease your worries. I understand the panic of not having a penny as an emergency fund so this could help!

Please don't stop your pension it would be so silly to.

Have you looked at getting a new loan as this may reduce your payments? Not sure of your APR or loan period

Market research can also help to build a little savings pot- I've earned several hundreds over the years doing that.

Are your kids entitled to any help with their bus fairs etc from college? Sometimes places have bursaries for this

Switching bank accounts could get you £100?
