Experience of home help or palliative care in South Tyneside or North Sunderland area?

My mum has a terminal prognosis of a few months and is reaching the point where she is finding it more difficult to live independently. I'm 400 miles away, visiting as often as I can. She will soon need a daily home help, a stair lift, a wheelchair, and at some point she may need to go into a hospice. I have found high level information about these things online and various links to various helplines. But I would be interested in hearing any personal experiences and recommendations of services in the South Tyneside or North Sunderland areas.

Can't help with recommendations for care as DMiL had an existing carer who has since retrained but just to say that I'm sorry about your mum and to reassure you that the palliative care team in S Tyneside were fab and looked after DMiL very well in her end stage kidney failure. We also got help from Marie Curie which was invaluable.

MiL stayed at home, but we heard really good things about the hospice as well.

I'm sorry about your mum's illness. Most hospice patients are actually looked after in the community, so it might be worth contacting your mums local hospice and asking what they offer. Being under hospice care doesn't usually mean being admitted, there's a huge amount they can help with at home (pain management, for example). They also usually have excellent chaplaincy teams who can offer non-clinical support.
