Advice about candles

For mothers day I got 3 cute disney candles. I've burned them now and the glass has a residue of wax. I would like to keep the 3 glasses to use as tealight holders. Has anyone got any tips on how I can get rid of the wax from them?

Put them in a low oven until the wax melts, then wipe them out with kitchen roll.

Scrape off excess wax
Blow dry the wax on the inside to melt. Keep wiping it away until you can scour the last of the residue

Fill with boiling water from the kettle and leave to stand until it’s cold - u will be able to lift the wax off the top of the water

warm (not hot) oven.
place the glasses upside down on newspaper or kitchen roll. after the wax has melted you can wash up the glasses as normal with wul & warm waterz

Put them in very hot water, the residual wax will peel off easily then. I've done it before, usually pulling the wick out of the bottom is the hardest part but again hot water helps with that :-)

Thank you. Would that be OK if the glass has a picture on? Don't want to ruin it. This is what they look like

Another option is to put them in the freezer and it pops out, or in top of the radiator until it loosens slightly. I often do this, I just wash out with hot soapy water once the main bit is out

Just get a knife or toothpick and break it up? Confused

Bluepinkyellowcakes · 31/10/2021 13:54

Looks like it would be OK to stand it in a bowl of hot water, the wax will quickly soften and you should be able to slide it out. Hairdryer technique suggested by someone else would work I'd expect.

Candle maker here.

Hot soapy water is fine but you might want to stand it in hot water for 5 minutes and scrape away the excess first.

Thank you all will try sitting it in hot water to see if it helps.
