Lottie dolls

DD is going to be 4 in December and is currently in love with ballet. She has a couple of Barbies already from last year and does play with them but I’ve been looking at the ballet Lottie doll for her birthday present but never seen one in the wild! Are they worth the money? Can the dolls wear other outfits (as there are others I prefer to the ballet one but DD will love it!) Thank you 😊

You can buy outfits. They’re a bit smaller than Barbies but some of their outfits will fit. My daughter loved them when she was younger and I preferred her having them to Barbies.

Yes, they sell a few separate outfit / accessories packs as well as the dolls, but outfits can't transferable with Barbie, etc (despite DD's best efforts!). And like PP, I much prefer to Barbies and the like although we have loads of those too.

My oldest was given a Lottie doll last year.... she's never played with it. Prefers her Barbies!

My 7 year old got one for her 6th birthday and more for the next Christmas. We don't have Barbies to compare but she likes them, there are lots of accessories too.

They are lovely, well made dolls that are admittedly expensive for what they are, however I feel like it's a price difference worth paying for something that isn't overly sexualised or stereotyped or based on completely unrealistic body proportions. My daughter started collecting them at the same age and she still plays with them every day. She also loves the treehouse and stable which are very sturdy and often come into the half price sale.

The clothes are interchangeable (she just takes one doll and the clothes from the others when we travel so that one doll has extra outfits). You can buy extra outfits on the official site / Amazon but they are a bit too pricey and the options are limited. If you search Lottie Doll Clothes on Etsy though you will find a few people making Lottie dresses for around £7 a pop. Unfortunately you can't buy replacement shoes anywhere!

I liked lottie dolls, they have a much more natural body shape than barbies and the clothes are sweet. The clothes are all interchangeable and you can buy some outsides seperately from the dolls. We had quite a few.

Dd2 has always had barbie or barbie sized dolls. More universal for clothes swapping and cheaper too. She has princesses, cook, dancer and gymnast plus fairies, mermaids.

The lottie dolls are cute though, remind me of the rosies world dolls ELC used to sell, dd1 had some of those but didn't use them really beyond 4 as they were a bit babyish. Mind you she was more into animals than dolls.

Sounds good! Thank you for your opinions, think I’ll give one a go for her birthday, I do like that they have more realistic proportions and are just a bit different from barbies!
