Toddler has temperature but won't take calpol

I've tried everything, missing it with drinks, food, ice cream but he sniffs it out and refuses it. I've tried pinning him down and forcing it in his mouth but it's making him sick even if I do it in tiny amounts.
Temp is 38 and he's snotty, we've both got a bug.
Pharmacy can't offer me any alternative.
What else can I do? I'm finding to very stressful!

Paracetamol suppositories are the only thing you need. Easy to administer and no need for the battle.

I have to bribe my lo to take medicine. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I found putting a syringe of calpol into the fridge for a while to get it really cold and then putting minute amounts into his cheek helped mine keep it down when he was fussy about taking it or it was making him sick.

I think it being cold intrigued him more so he was more tolerant. 38 isn't that high I agree with others so hopefully it will come down soon by itself and he'll feel a bit better as it only needs to come down a fraction to make a difference.

Hope your night goes well

This was us a few days ago.
I have two children who absolutely hate and refuse oral meds.
My DS had a temp at nearly 39.7 and was so unwell with it.
He threw up Calpol and neurofen throughout the day, as soon as we battled to get it in him it came back out so I rang the local pharmacy who got me paracetamol suppositories in for the next day.
They were £20 for 10 but I'm so relieved that I have a back up plan next time he's ill as everything else has been really traumatic.

Hope your all better soon Flowers

Paracetamol suppositories.
Yes. These are exactly what you need. They are so simple to use - you just moisten them and slip then in when you are changing your toddler’s nappy , he won’t even notice.

Get some tomorrow as soon as you can.

As some others have said, we use half a Calpol Melt for our toddler who refuses all forms of meds and she loves them

I used the suppositories but found they irritated DS's bottom after a while. Also GPs won't proscribe then and they're £2 per suppository!

*prescribe

I'm in France and doliprane (paracetamol) suppositories are the standard way of giving paracetamol for babies / small children. I think it makes a lot of sense.
