Have you ever tried breast milk? Yours or anyone else’s?!

Human breast milk to be precise, and your mothers doesnt count! Grin

Im curious, im BFing at the minute and I don’t know why, but the idea really weirds me out. My DH in his sleep deprived state when baby was a newborn tested the temperature of some expressed milk on the back on his hand and licked it off without thinking. He said it tasted like sugary milk. 🤣

Also there was a show on the other night called breastfeeding my boyfriend which freaked me out even more!

@WitchsFamiliarWhichIsFamiliar mine didn’t seem bothered either! 😂 then he saw that programme as well and put it on record, think he’s got a secret fetish he’s not telling me about! 😂

@Sparklingbrook Yes I only meant taste, not drinking it by the cup full. But each to their own Grin

Yes it’s not like when your friends come round you’d make them each a huge milk shake each using your own human milk. 🤔

It is sweet (tasted my own out of curiosity). I gave my mum scrambled egg once with some expressed milk added in. I told her afterwards and she thought the idea of it was disgusting! She hadn't noticed when eating the egg though. However I then saw her take a sip of my expressed milk when she was testing the temperature before giving it to my son. She thought that was acceptable though, but not added to food!

@LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus out of curiosity why did you put it in scrambled eggs?!

Yes totally, I used it in my tea a few times when we'd run out of milk. Just squeezed some in.

Was that not a bit mean? I mean I know she didn't notice but I think I'd like the choice of whether to eat my daughter's breast milk or not.
DontscratchthePRADA · 05/11/2021 07:16

As PPs have said I've licked it off the back of my hand but never actually drank it. From the bit I tasted it was disgusting!

BogRollBOGOF · 05/11/2021 09:48

My babies only drank milk from source and wouldn't drink expressed milk. If it was necessary to pump, it seemed a shame to waste the nutrients.
It was like a melted ice cream minus the vanilla.

Verfremdungseffekt · 05/11/2021 10:09

Yes, my own, and (unintentionally) a friend’s expressed milk when I was feeding her son while babysitting.

TurnUpTurnip · 05/11/2021 10:28

Nope, bf 4 kids and never tried it, never wanted to or been curious at all, it makes me feel too weird

LadyDanburysHat · 05/11/2021 10:30

I did when some spilled on my hand. Easier to lick it up than anything else. It is very sweet.

Avarua · 05/11/2021 10:33

Ew, no.

SockQueen · 05/11/2021 11:45

I've tried a taste, but wouldn't put it as a substitute for cow's milk in anything - it tastes quite different. Sweet and slightly malty?

Footprintsonthemoon1 · 05/11/2021 12:13

I've tasted my own, my husband asked me to make him a coffee with it once to just to try, he told me to do it as a test and surprise him one day and see if he could tell the difference. He didn't, he does have a bit of sugar in his coffee

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/11/2021 12:26

Yup, my own. I also once tried to BF from myself… didn’t work. I have a terrible latch! Grin Wouldn’t feel comfortable adding it to coffee/having a friend’s though.

UnderTheSkyInsideTheSea · 05/11/2021 15:07

Yes; tastes like sweet milk.

A very good friend of mine came round for a cuppa when DD was a babe, and I’d run out of milk… I gave him the choice of either popping to the shop for milk, or having my expressed breast milk in his tea. He chose breast milk. Said it tasted fine. Grin

Hemingwayscats · 05/11/2021 15:32

Yep, I’ve tasted it to check temperature when I pumped and reheated. It’s just very sweet.

DahliaMacNamara · 05/11/2021 15:40

I've tasted my own. Much nicer than cow's milk.
