Any recommendations? I’m thinking heartwarming, facing adversity, etc.

Thank you!

These all sound wonderful 😊 great post OP. My dilemma would be, do I download on my kindle or should I have the actual book in my hands for a comfort read? I've been reading a lot on Kindle and miss an actual book. X

James Herriot got my husband through a dark time. The humanity of his writing is lovely.

Terry pratchett too, again the humanity of it.

PG Wodehouse always does the job.

If really bad I reread HarryPotter!

Monica Dickens is quite old fashioned now, but I always found her autobiographical works (One Pair of Feet etc) very comforting.

I hope that this thread helps and that you feel better soon.

I love Eve's daughters by Lynn Austin.
I used to read it every January to fight the mid-winter blues.
I haven't read for a few years as I seem to get too busy now to read, but it's a really good read

It does have a Christian/religious thread all the way through it so take that into consideration.
It's a story of 4 generations of women, their relationships to each other, their traditions, their challenges & values and their relationships or the lack of it with God.

Many of mine have already been mentioned on here but going to add Eva Ibbotson, who said of her own work that it was “for the intelligent woman with the flu.”. It's absolutely lovely. I like The Secret Countess and A Company of Swans particularly.
