DD is at uni too far away for us to see each other in person on her birthday, which is in November.

I'd like to send her a cake.

I'm not a cake expert, and nor is she, (neither of us has an especially sweet tooth) but I think she'll like having a cake delivered

How do I go about ordering and getting one too her?
Who offers this?

She is in Manchester.

Thanks in advance sweet-toothed people

Konditor in london deliver amazing brownies.cakes too but those are more expensive- I usually only eat homemade brownies but these are definitely worth it.

AFingerofFudge · 27/10/2021 08:02

You can send a Colin the Caterpillar gift back that includes the actual cake and other goodies. M&S obvs!

MsSquiz · 27/10/2021 08:05

Another recommendation for grower cottage brownies. They're the best brownies I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot)
DH bought me the chocolate orange brownies and the original brownie butter (the best chocolate spread) and I then bought them for my friend when she had her baby, and now she sends them to people too!

Try the palms, small four, hillgate cakery, longbois bakehouse. All small local businesses. I'll probably think of some more once I've had a coffee.

brownieheaven.co.uk/products/build-your-own-brownie-wownie-mount?variant=12768370622519 I had one of these for a special birthday, a chocolate amazement delivered. I highly, highly recommend, if is certainly special.

Love the look of the cake slices but for a birthday I'd go for a whole cake. With icing. Or a giant iced birthday cookie

Whaley bridge bake house deliver they are amazing www.thebridgebakehouse.co.uk/#!contact-us/c1uuh

WeAreTheHeroes · 27/10/2021 08:26

Bridge Bakehouse in Whaley are fab - people queue out of the door for their cakes and a coffee. Conveniently within walking distance too... For me that is! They supply local businesses.

gobbynorthernbird · 27/10/2021 08:52

I forgot silver apples! And for baked but not cake gooey co do the best doughnuts and cookies, and lupo are brilliant.

Blackmagicqueen · 27/10/2021 08:53

I would bake myself and send because I'm always disappointed with bought cakes/brownies! Sorry not much help op and hope you find a good one!!

BarbaraofSeville · 27/10/2021 09:03

I agree with that @Blackmagicqueen. Plus brownies are so expensive compared with making them yourself and they're so easy.

Brown and Blond is one of the 'best brownies ever' companies I see recommended a lot and they're local to me so they have stands in shopping centres etc around here. I bought a couple and they're really nothing special compared to home made and I could have made a whole tray for the price of two bought ones.

languagelover96 · 27/10/2021 09:08

Find a bakery and ask about special cakes. Or you can always pop into Sainsburys to see what kind of cake is on offer. Alternatively you can bake a cake at home, numerous recipes are online these days. Failing that, you can buy a cake from Marks and Spencer or ask a friend to help you out.

JustCheesz · 27/10/2021 09:08

You can personalise cakes and brownies so can send her cake with your face on Grin

We received a big tin of Beverly Hills bakery cakes during COVID, they were delicious, really cheered us up. Came beautifully packaged.

Pbbananabagel · 27/10/2021 09:39

If you want to support a really small independent business try these by someone I know! Her stuff is amazing, she’s been a professional baker for other people for years but this is all her, very cool, funky flavours and post perfectly. junk-food.co/

Cantstopeatingchocolate · 27/10/2021 09:45

Cakesy delivers is on Shocal for delivery around Manchester.

sarahlondon37382 · 27/10/2021 09:52

Seconding Love & Cake brownies - they are amazing, it's a small bakery in london, not one of these big companies, I prefer smaller bakeries, the quality is always better I find. I got these in the post from a friend and just sent my new mum friend some.

sarahlondon37382 · 27/10/2021 09:54

Yeah, would help if I posted pic 😆

@Pbbananabagel - please let your friend know her website is terrible on an android phone and what looks to be a pdf menu is blurred.

Looked on my local group and found Bibble Bakes
Jelly Tots & Dolly Mixtures
What's Up Cupcakes

iamnotanalcoholic70 · 27/10/2021 10:50

You can try Ridiculously Rich by Alana brownies through Not on the High Street. I've had the best brownie I've ever tasted from there ❤️

StormTreader · 27/10/2021 11:23

release-the-caken.co.uk/ are good and its my friends one-woman business as well so it's definitely supporting an independent business! She does interesting seasonal varieties as well, the current specials are Halloween themed.
