Where would you go? What would you do?

I like planning for non existent emergencies and it's a bit windy out.

I'd have to leave the caravan I'm currently staying in and find a brick building, conveniently enough that's a local pub. I would go to the cellar with bottle of pop and crisps.

The alternative is the onsite amusements but I think the building is flimsy and there'd be too many people there to be comfortable.

Hurricane Maria passed whilst I was on holiday in the carribean. We were confined to our rooms in the hotel with packed lunch type food and drink provided. I packed all our clothes back in the suitcases, emptied the safe incase the power went out, then made a grab bag up in our cabin luggage suitcase of our passports, money, change of clothes. Charged ipads and phones. Stuck it all in the bathroom as that was where we were heading if any windows broke.
Ended up watching the wind, rain and lightning for a bit then falling asleep, woke up when much of it was over.

Not sure what the chickens would do though, they’d have a rough time in a hurricane

Down here in the Caribbean, there are wild chickens everywhere. During hurricanes, they shelter in the bushes and grab on with their feet. Just in case you need to tell your chickens what to do 🤣

I live in the prairie so no chance of hurricanes, but if I hear the sirens we just head straight down to our basement. We pull up the radar map to see how close things are. If it’s close, we get in the the deepest, most reinforced spot in the back of the basement. We also put on sturdy shoes so our feet will be protected if we have to walk out over rubble.

If it’s just our area, we sit on the couch we have down there, turn on the tv, and watch the weather. An adult might make a snack run upstairs if things are really mellow. We break out the games and wait it out.

Not much chance of hurricanes where I live but we do get earthquakes every now and again. Strangely enough the last 24 hours or so have seen a huge increase in little quakes - we’ve had three this morning and had about 5 or so yesterday. I’m considering packing a ‘go bag’ for an overnight stay and putting it in the car - may also be a bit OTT.my slight anxiety isn’t helped because my house isn’t earthquake proof. If we get a good shake it will probably fall down, or something.
