Dc school have requested tins for the harvest festival. It specifically says tins. To go to the homeless shelters.
I'd of thought any dried non perishable type stuff would have been fine. And I'd of gone for biscuits cereals etc too.
But just tins.
Surely there's only so many beans and things they'll need.. I don't buy anything tinned other than beans and tomatoes. So I honestly have no idea or what would be appreciated.

Our local food bank often asks for tinned fruit and custard.

Tinned meat, fish and potatoes are always in demand at the local food bank, also custard, jams, spreads, crisps long life milk, biscuits, tea, coffee, pot noodles (not everyone has cooking facilities) etc. They get inundated with soup, beans and pasta. It's nice to give recognised brands or supermarket best rather than just smart price if you afford to, the people who need help are human and need to have some self respect and not feel worthless by only receiving the cheapest of everything. The Rev who runs our local bank is very good at educating those who donate, it's humbling to visit. If they have asked for tins only then do that but look up the local food banks wish list and try and match it.

I wouldn't get the smart price I wouldn't want someone to eat something I personally wouldn't.

OK so I'll get some fruits custards potatoes tin meat etc.
I'm going to ask after half term if it's just tins or is cereal etc OK.

I can only spend 10-15 max so want to use it wisely.

Altho my dm has said she has some tuna she won't use and all over a years date and a few bits so hopefully we can get a it up together

Tinned meat and thinner veg (not beans) are what our one us always short of.
