Oodies

Are they worth it?!
DD wants one and she's 13 - between sizes as well. I want her to have some mileage from it but will the adult one swamp her? She's 5'1!

They are not worth it.

A large group of us chopped in in one of their deals and even then it was really over priced.
The material isn’t premium or luxury.
It’s simply over priced as they have created a demand and know they can make a large profit.

There’s plenty of cheap dupes on eBay

SallyOMalley · 26/10/2021 17:40

Yep, I agree. My dh has a 'premium' oodie type thing which cost £80. My dd has an amazon cheapie at £20 ish. There really is no discernable difference between them.

My ds now wants one ... and I'll be going for the cheaper one!

BeMoreHedgehog · 26/10/2021 17:44

I love my oodie. My daughter isn’t even five foot and she has an adult one. They are supposed to be oversized. We had cheapies before and imo they don’t even come close to the real thing. The quality of material/thickness of the real ones are far superior. If you buy via their Facebook page you can often get a BOGOF offer.

Stompythedinosaur · 26/10/2021 17:56

I think oodies just come in one size.

I've got them for my dds. Not sure if they are worth it yet!

Stompythedinosaur · 26/10/2021 17:57

Ignore me, I didn't realise they do kids sizes.

Gobbychops · 26/10/2021 18:07

Primark do knock off ones for a fraction of the cost, I’d get one of them.

GobletofFiyah · 26/10/2021 18:10

They are good, but they say not to tumble dry them ( I ignore that) but what the heck do you do with them when they're soaking wet from the washing machine!

LakesideView · 26/10/2021 18:11

I got one as a gift, I absolutely love it. I’m Autistic and have sensory-processing problems and it’s like wearing a cuddle! If your DD is short though, the adult one will swamp her. I am 5ft 4in and a size 16 and the adult one is down to my knees. I’d opt for a smaller one or a knockoff, the adult is one size and so enormous I doubt she’d be comfortable wearing it.

Laiste · 26/10/2021 18:16

I keep seeing the word oodie crop up on MN and now i've googled it.

Confused It's just a great big fleece jumper thing then? Frigging 90 quid on the website i just saw Shock

Your legs are still out. If it's cold enough to wear a massive thick thing like that on your top half in the house wouldn't you want/need your legs covered as well?

TheThreeHeadedBeast · 26/10/2021 18:20

As a 5 ft adult, it is the perfect size.
If I curl up on the sofa, I can tick my feet in and be lovely and cosy

AnnListersBlister · 26/10/2021 18:24

I want to have a look at some cheaper ones. I agree with Laiste about the legs out thing. But I'd like to try one. sallyomallie which do you have please?

TheShadoutCrepes · 26/10/2021 18:25

I bought oodies for my teenage dds and myself last Christmas. Now it’s got cold again they wear them all. the. time.
Dd2 wears hers so much I think she’s in danger of becoming one with her Oodie, like some sort of sullen lumpen fleece adolescent-teen hybrid.

I have abolutely nothing to compare them to as we are at Oodie critical mass here, however they are great quality and super thick. I can’t imagine ever having to replace them.

TheShadoutCrepes · 26/10/2021 18:27

So IRONY KLAXON, dd2 just dropped chicken korma down her Oodie and made such a bloody song and dance about it I failed to check before posting and put my hyphen in the goddamend wrong place.

Good news is oodies also wash well.

Iamanicepersonreally · 26/10/2021 18:29

I’ve read various reviews which say that the Kudd.ly brand is superior to Oodie.

I want one!! I’ve got some Oodie trackies which are really comfortable but not warm at all.

FrancescaContini · 26/10/2021 18:32

I just had to check these online as I have heard of them but never seen one.

Hideous. Are they the current onesie? Do grown adults actually wear these? And the cost!!

GobletofFiyah · 26/10/2021 18:42

I bought mine on eBay for £20

PinkStink · 26/10/2021 18:43

I heard about them but won't make the same mistake I did with a slanket. I mean they're so bloody bulky - such an arse to wash.

I have a nice fleece blanket and my husband's normal hoodie. Lush Smile

BlackAlys · 26/10/2021 18:55

It's so
Costly - I don't think I can stretch to a branded one, but I think I'll investigate the other suggestions here. Thanks all.

You can def tell the difference between my daughters proper one and her sisters amazon one, thicker and the quality. They are supposed to swamp you, that's the point of them.

CombatBarbie · 26/10/2021 18:58

Not sure £80 is being dropped in, £49 I paid for my daughters from the official site.

liveforsummer · 26/10/2021 18:59

My 8 year old has the same size one as me. The bigger the better. Mine aren't actually oodies but very good dupes

Michaelangelo467 · 26/10/2021 19:06

My oodie is fantastic, thick, warm, cosy. The knock offs I’ve seen have nothing on the real thing!

FortunaMajor · 26/10/2021 19:12

£16 in Dunelm with a few different designs.

SnowWhitesSM · 26/10/2021 19:17

Love my oodie. I was meh about them but dh bought us both one last year and I love it. He bought them as we went away in his friends campervan in September and was worried about being cold.

GobletofFiyah · 26/10/2021 19:59

Do you all stuck em in the tumble drier too?
