Has anyone here used Veygo for learner driver insurance?

I'm getting quotes to temporarily cover my learner-driver DC until their test in February. I've abandoned the main comparitor sites because their quote forms don't seem to be designed for learner drivers. I've seen recommendations on here for Marmalade. I'm currently looking at Veygo, which is owned by Admiral. Their quote seems reasonable but I haven't read the small print yet. In the meantime, any experiences of them would be good to hear!

We’ve used them for two DC. Very straightforward and reasonably priced but thankfully have no experience of claiming with them. Would happily recommend them on our limited experience to date.

Thanks. I liked that Veygo gave me a quote upfront, based on minimal personal data - very refreshing after using comparitor sites ask for way more details than they need. And it was significantly cheaper than the Marmalade quote. Hoping there's no catch as I've gone ahead and paid now.

Having just gone through this in the last couple of years. Learner insurance is surprisingly cheap. Its because they are not driving on their own. Wait until they pass their test at 17/18... you might need a sit down re he price but MSE Martin Lewis is good for links to reasonable insurers once they have passed. Some insurance was quoting £4k plus per year!

Yes, I've seen others on here saying the same. The Veygo insurance we got is just for learners so we got it up to the day of his test and noted in the small print that if he passes his test he won't be able to drive home on this insurance. I'll need to schedule in another half day of trawling for best deals.

Veygo and Marmalade do allow you to take out temporary "car borrowing" insurance for as little as two hours at a time, and a lot of mumsnetters seem to use it for DC's occasional use - I guesd the downside is that they're not building up a no claims bonus with that, so will eventually have to bite the bullet and pay a hefty premium.

Just wanted to share my experience here.

Veygo make it easy to sign up and pay for but VERY hard to make a claim.

It is now 4+ weeks after my daughter who is learning to drive, accidently reversed into a stone wall.

We provided Veygo with a clear, quote and pictures of the damage. No third party was involved. This should have been a STRAIGHT FORWARD claim to process.

Weeks later I'm STILL waiting to hear back from them to accept the quote. In the meantime they have unilaterally cancelled my daughter's insurance!

It was only by luck I found the cancellation email otherwise she would have been driving uninsured.

Awful experience.

Still don't know if/when I can get the car fixed. I now have to go searching for other insurance.

@321p how much damage is there? She must have been going at some speed if there's lots. But if its fairly superficial I think I'd have just got it fixed myself rather than claiming on insurance - its probably not worth the inevitably massive premium increase that she'll now get as a Learner Driver with a claim.

Apparently the damage is over £2,000 as the rear panel is completely shattered (its glass).

I suppose the point of insurance is that you should be able to make a claim! They are making it so hard however. STILL waiting for them to give the OK to get it repaired.
