What did you want for your 40th birthday?

We’re planning a weekend away and a London show, family meal and a meal with friends but dh wants to buy me something special. Stuff I genuinely want would be a new kitchen, sofas and carpets (planned for next year) which dh says are family things we need and not a birthday present. Realistically we’re probably looking at around £500 ish budget. Can anyone give me some inspiration?

I had very expensive sailing boots. I don't even sail in them, just stand in calf deep water launching DS.

I asked my DH to make me something, sing me something and buy me something! 😁He wrote me a gorgeous poem and made it into a photobook which is one of my treasured things ever. He wrote and sang me a song on the day. Got me a lovely necklace (not particularly expensive from a local jeweler) and did a little firework show for me on the evening whilst I sat in the hottub (during lockdown so just us in our garden rather than planned trips away). Ooh and he and my DD wrote 40 things they love about me for me to find in the morning. He's typically a NE unromantic sort so was very surprising and beautiful.

Diamond tennis bracelet, given to me on the plane to Copenhagen to have lunch at Nona ranked the best restaurant in the world. It was a spectacular weekend.

Sapphire stud earrings - was a surprise, love them and wear them loads

A baby. I'd just had a miscarriage. He arrived when I was 41 but I remember being very sad when I was 40.
