Would you expect fireworks?!

I wouldn't expect anything either way but it would be lovely if there was fireworks 🎇🎆🎆🎇

Bonfire is massive for us (Lewes) so I wouldn't accept a dinner invitation on the 5th. Do it on the Saturday 6th.

@AdaColeman

No, I wouldn’t expect or want fireworks, but I would expect a nod towards November 5th in the menu, cinder toffee as an element in the pudding perhaps, or baked potatoes with the main course, maybe even cassoulet as the main dish as sausages are a traditional November 5th food.
I’ve never heard of sausages as being traditional Bonfire Night food. Cinder toffee or parkin, yes.

@daisypond Well, you’ve learnt something today! As they say, on Mumsnet every day is a school day. Wink

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 24/10/2021 11:47

If you're just inviting someone over for dinner next Friday then no

If you ask someone over for "bonfire night" or similar then maybe

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 24/10/2021 11:47

But you could just say there will be no fire or fireworks

Kite22 · 24/10/2021 16:13

So, @batmanladybird are you the host or the invitee ?

What conclusion have you come to?

I am the host Not doing fireworks. Not really sure what am going to feed them tbh. But I like the idea of toffee vodka

No - but I’d potentially decline the invitation because I have huge sensory issues around sudden, loud sounds so spend that period each year at home with earplugs in and music playing to cope.

If I did venture out and someone sprung fireworks on me in the garden I’d likely have a panic attack :(
