Anxious about Xmas

Is anyone else feeling anxious about Xmas? I just hate the thought of anymore toys or presents coming into the house! We have DD 7 and DS 5. My DH often picks up toys second hand that he thinks are a bargain. But he treats them quite a bit during the year. Only last week he picked up 2 massive carrier bags of Lego 2nd hand. It has now filled 3 plastic boxes that he have stacked in the kitchen diner. Problem is he is a bit of a hoarder and doesn’t like me giving stiff to charity if he bought it or if he thinks he can sell it. But it’s usually me who has to advertise if and deal with that things in order to sell it.

For me as a parent my biggest joy at Christmas is watching my kids unwrap their presents and play with them.
Christmas is about the magic for kids.
Its sad it makes you anxious.

Can you not try to have a bit of a sort out beforehand?

I used to feel the same. Going out to buy yet more stuff, when they had more than enough stuff already. Felt a bit overwhelming.

Have a conversation with your DH and agree exactly how much you will spend on your DC and what you will buy for Christmas.

Have you talked to DH about this. I’ve already started to get organised for Christmas. One of the first things I do watch the kids play and see what they play with, then I get rid of any outgrown toys (my youngest is 2 so she out grows stuff quickly), this year I’ve taken some to a second hand toy shop which sells it for a % of the cost, I bin all the junk (broken stuff, old home made stuff) and give the rest to charity. And then DH and I sit down and think carefully about what to buy for the DDs and ideas for other relatives.

Sounds like your dh is a lot of a hoarder.
We used to have regular clear outs
It was done with the dc's complete co operation.
(I'd bribe then with money)
At Christmas I got over my guilt and anything unwanted went straight to the charity shop.
The kids always had loads of stuff and loads of room to store it and play with it.

December the 1st get dc to help sort ioit some toys for dc less fortunate.. They can relay this reasoning to their df...
Sell cheaply on Gumtree imo gives better value to someone not so well off as charity shops are getting too expensive.. I gave away a huge box of duplo last year. And sold some big trucks for 2 quid each... Ds then 6 was totally on board... Takes your dh out of the equation.. Use the money for food bank items if you don't need the money.
