Any good ghost stories on YouTube you can recommend?

I can’t afford audible or any subscription services at the moment. I enjoyed The Battersea Poltergeist on BBC sounds and The Haunting Of Hill House and a few traditional ghost stories on YouTube. I’m not a fan of paranormal channels which seem to have an uncannily steady supply of ghosts, slendermen, black eyed children and poltergeist on every episode. I do like a good ghost story though. Any recommendations please?

Do you like general horror stories too or just ghost stories?

Bite Sized Audio classics on YT have a lot of traditional ghost stories. They aren't all ghost stories but if you look at their playlists you can see the ghost stories grouped by category. https://youtube.com/c/BitesizedAudioClassics

If you like other horror/spooky stories then search Youtube for Fear on 4 and The Price of Fear. They're both very good series.

Not ghosts but I just finished listening to this which was very spooky. Definitely not one to listen to around kids though, not just for the scare factor but also because of very adult themes.

These two I haven't listened to you but they're on my list to be listened to soon and they seem to have positive reviews. and

Check out www.youtube.com/c/TonyWalker2021 he reads classic ghost and supernatural stories and gives background information.

Wow thank you all. I will be checking all these out. I’m ok with horror too but not blood and gut, murder type horror or zombies. I’m not a fan of zombies.

SugarMouseTown. I’ve just started listening. I’ve got into it straight away but have decided to wait for after dinner when I can light some candles and snuggle up under a blanket to listen to the rest 👻.

I recently discovered the legend of Kuchisake Onna. It’s terrifying and YouTube has several videos on the topic. It will make you run though from any young mask wearing woman that crosses your path at night on the street.

Spockynocky · 23/10/2021 17:46

I will be taking a look at that LaBellina. Thanks. I’m looking forward to some spooky listens.

Enjoy OP.
Keep in mind to describe her as average if you meet her, or keep some hard candies in your pocket that you can throw so she’ll be busy picking them up and you can escape Wink

Are there any of the BBCs M R James adaptations on YouTube ?

MusingOnStarlight · 24/10/2021 08:57

You might enjoy the channels or podcasts of scary stories like Let’s Read, Being Scared and Let’s Not Meet. I listen daily!

Have you listened to the Lovecraft Investigations on BBC Sounds? Spooky fiction drama podcast - really good and 3 series to go at.

einekleinenachtarbeit · 24/10/2021 09:39

Lovecraft investigations is excellent. Also a series called tracks but that's more sci fi/horror (genetic engineering but is genuinely frightening).
@DGRossetti presume you mean tv rather than radio ? Yes there is a View from a hill and the Trachtate Middoth, both relatively recent and really good. Lots of others too but I think they are the best.
Quite a few audio stories read by Michael Hordern by MR James too.

Spockynocky · 24/10/2021 17:57

Musingonstarlight. I’ll definitely try these out.

I’ll also try Lovecraft. I noticed them but didn’t think they were for me but they sounds worth a go.

Ive really enjoyed some of the recommendations I’ve listened to so far .

What a great thread. I love stories about Things That Go Bump in the Night and don't have a Netflix account.

Thank you, everyone, for your recommendations.
