What's up with me?

If anyone could help diagnose me I'd be so grateful. Getting nowhere with my Dr...

I have continual, severe nausea from waking up to going to sleep. Started two weeks ago. It doesn't go except for about 30 minutes after eating, which makes it even more mysterious.

I don't have stomach pain/dizziness or anything else I can think of.

46, not pregnant, had covid two months ago but no gastric symptoms.

I started HRT a few months ago with no adverse effects but have temporarily stopped the progesterone just in case. Made no difference so far.

Diet hasn't changed, I've stopped drinking alcohol and I'm sleeping ok. Blood test showed high monocytes (spelling?) indicating immunity response to something. Otherwise blood and breath tests were clear.

Any ideas here? I'm so sick of feeling sick! X

Did they test your for helicobacter? Its a blood test. You usually have other symptoms including heartburn, indigestion and bloating, but nausea is a common symptom.
I've just finished treatment and its rough, very heavy duty antibiotics for 7 days. I slept like a log, but feel a lot better already.

Thanks got your response. Yes, they checked for that and it was negative.

Hope you feel better, I heard it's rough.

No other gastric symptoms at all really but the nausea is intense Confused

Oo poor you. Sounds horrible.

Absii · 22/10/2021 21:23

@NigellaSeed I thought of that too, but no dizziness not lightheadedness.

Thank you though.

I’m telling you this so you can rule it out, not because I think you have it. A family member had nausea for a long time and was eventually (too late) diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. They also had bone pain (put down to a pulled muscle).

Absii · 22/10/2021 21:57

@CrystalMaisie thank you, I'll raise that with my Gp. I guess I'm worried because nausea seems to come up as a symptom for cancers. Sorry for your loss.

Ulcer?

Greenhillfaraway · 22/10/2021 22:17

TMI but I had low level feeling of nausea for several months that only seemed to subside after I'd eaten. Eventually I realised that it was due to my bowel transit time (so I was still going to the toilet regularly but it had taken a while to get there) and I was actually quite constipated.

Physillum husks got me back on track.

I hope you find a resolution Thanks

Absii · 22/10/2021 22:47

Thanks for those suggestions. I haven't noticed any constipation, but I'll up the fibre just in case!

I'll check on ulcers too, but I do t have any pain or other discomfort when I eat?

how utterly fucking random and scare mongering.
Absii · 23/10/2021 09:44

I actually don't mind. So desperate to figure this out, I'll take all suggestions!

Nausea is very common for a multitude of reasons, cancer is not statistically likely to be one of them, especially with no other symptoms.

You've had covid OP, for lots of people it can take a long and as yet undetermined amount of time to recover from that or indeed any virus. Whilst it's obviously a worry it is very possible this will go away in time as the body recovers. I would take as much rest as possible and try to build up the immune system. The GP can ultimately prescribe short term meds for nausea if it is interfering with the day and causing distress, which should reduce it.

Have you checked your heart rate and blood pressure? Is the nausea worse when you're up and about or after standing, say.

Absii · 23/10/2021 15:46

@dontgobaconmyheart thanks for this. Yes, covid had occurred to me too. I had quite bad fatigue but then seemed to fully recover before this started up.

I had bloods and BP done and both fine, save for the monocytes/immunity markers. I do sometimes suffer with dizziness if I stand up quickly, but I've had that a while so thought it was unrelated. Ditto some blurred vision if I do strenuous activity and haven't eaten enough. The only 'basic' thing I haven't checked is blood sugar. I think because the nausea is unrelenting vs intermittent, the Dr didn't think it was connected to blood sugar.

Good advice though about resting etc. thank you.

I had severe nausea with my stomach ulcer, after a few weeks it turned into severe nausea and pain

Absii · 23/10/2021 15:53

@ButterflyAway thank you. Is that something that's easily diagnosed and treated?
