Child anxious when no toilet available

DD 8yrs has over the past two years shown signs of anxiety when she feels there are no toilets nearby. I can't be certain but it seems to have been sparked by a one-off wetting accident when she started primary school and felt she couldn't ask to go. It was hard going for around 6 months as she seemed to constantly need the loo (doctors confirmed several times nothing physically wrong), but has eased and now peaks when we go on car journeys. She will go to the loo before the journey, but 15minutes in feels like she needs to go again and is squirming/looking upset. In an environment where she knows she can access a toilet, her toileting is normal - i.e. will go every few hours/as needed. She's not noticeably anxious in other aspects of life - enjoys school, being out and about, playing with friends, going to clubs. Does anyone have any advice on how to help her manage this quite specific worry? We have the 'what to do when you worry too much' book and keep dipping into it. We've explained that her bladder is like a balloon and can stretch lots. After two years, I can see there's no magic 'cure' but she's at an age where she can enjoy things like day trips out with friends, and I'd like to make sure this worry doesn't limit her.
