Which of the three central Premier Inns would you go for?
Bridge Street
New st station
Or
Waterloo street?

Thanks

New Street Station because the Bullring and Grand Central are right there. It might be a bit noisy with the trains. I would avoid Broad Street. Whenever we went out Broad Street was so busy with people and cars all night. Like hell but noisier.

I’ve stayed at them all and tend to choose one further out now, but New St or Waterloo St are both fine.

jackstini · 19/10/2021 16:33

Waterloo st is the least noisy and still great location

If we stayed further out are there late night trains or buses and if you do stay further out where do you choose?
We are taking car (I think) and last time we got stuck in horrendous traffic cos of the road works for Commonwealth Games. Wondering if NEC/airport sensible?

I’d go for Waterloo St, it’s in the city centre but in a really nice location.

Jumbojem · 19/10/2021 16:38

Personally don't like like the entranceway of new st one, it's on a busy ramp. But never stayed there, lone female colleagues have and found ok. Bridge St is a quieter location, close to mailbox, but not sure how safe I'd feel at night there. Waterloo st would prob be my preference, still central and close to shops/restaurants in an area with enough nighttime footfall to be safe but not noisy (it's away from main roads). Agree broad st, which isn't on your list I don't think, is busy road with clubs at night and daytime construction (or was when I last stayed which was more than a yr ago).

I'd go for Waterloo Street too. Although I think the train runs out to International til around midnight if I remember correctly?

GreedyCymraes · 19/10/2021 16:45

Brilliant. Thanks all. I think we'll be out until midnight ish anyway 😊

Are you aware of the clean air charge?

GreedyCymraes · 24/10/2021 11:13

Waterloo Road booked

Just realised about clear air charge and I hear road works central are a nightmare.

Can anyone please recommend somewhere to park south/south west of Birmingham where we can leave car & easy and quick bus or train in? I have a parking app but don't know logical locations to try the postcode search.

I’d park on a residential side street in Moseley village (B13, it’s outside the clean air zone) and then get the 50 bus in

EvilRingahBitch · 24/10/2021 11:37

You probably won't be affected by the clean air zone, because most people aren't but you should check your car here.

DismantledKing · 24/10/2021 11:54

You can park at Selly Oak station and get the train in. Takes 10 minutes.

GreedyCymraes · 24/10/2021 17:50

Great. Thanks all. This is really helpful. Need somewhere to stay as we make our way up M5 the. Isn't before but will do separate post for that 😊
