What to do on a midweek birthday

Just curious about what everyone does on their birthdays. I have had birthdays before! But this is the first time it's on a weekday and I'm on mat leave instead of in the office. Next week, so during half term, DH will be at work. What should I do with a 6 year old and a baby? All my friends will be working, was thinking of just going for a long walk and maybe a pub lunch, but that seems a bit sad, is it less sad than cooking my own lunch though?
We are doing something on the weekend, but want to enjoy my actual day. What would you do?

Your 6 year old will be very excited to have time with you on your birthday. Definitely go for lunch or cake or both! Have a great day.

It's the first time you've had a midweek Birthday?Confused

Can DH sneak home an hour early, or a mum friend come round after school?
I usually do tea party (sandwiches, sausage rolls, pineapple and cheese hedgehog) with cake and glass of wine (just a small one for the baby, obvs!)
Then book babysitter and go for dinner with DH on Saturday night.

I do something that the kids love, and we always put together a picnic involving cake. It's my birthday too next week! We are going to a park with a miniature train track.

Happy birthday!

I hope you have a nice day.

Let the 6 year old treat you but it probably won't last long. I wouldn't bother with any other 'special' plans until there was another adult in the household. Then I'd be off for a bath but that's me.

I don't particularly need the whole day to be mine and special though. 1 or 2 hours at either end of the day would do

I don’t know why a midweek birthday is different to a weekend one but maybe it’s just me not being particularly bothered about it.

We unwrap presents at breakfast and if we are at home there is cake in the afternoon.

We normally go for dinner but if it is under the week we often delay it until the weekend.

Walk and pub lunch seems a great idea, if weather is poor a trip to a big garden centre with a nice cafe is always a good option (perhaps buy some bulbs you can plant together)

Thank you very much for the great suggestions!
I definitely have had a midweek birthday before Grin just never on my own with two small children.
I'll have a look and see if there's a place round here doing afternoon teas, my Dd would love that, maybe we can even get a little bit dressed up :)

definitely cafe with cake. a child friendly cafe so there is something for her to do so you can get to eat your cake.

I used to take mine to asda to buy me a present. then pretend not to see it as I paid for the damn thing.

'I used to take mine to asda to buy me a present. then pretend not to see it as I paid for the damn thing.' I'd end up with a packet of Pokemon cards if I tried that GrinGrinGrin
