£5 for a bottle of milk!

Fuck. I booked my grocery slot with a bottle of milk then forgot to fill the basket. They’re delivering a single bottle of milk and charging me £4 delivery fee because my total spend isn’t enough! What do I do? Just not answer the door? I can’t afford to pay £5 for a bottle of milk.

Aw OP, glad you got a refund. What about booking the late slots, some go for about £1.50. You could always save a list of staples (milk, tea, bread, veg) to put in your basket each time so at least just milk doesn't turn up.

I've done this twice with a packet of blueberries. I always make sure I put the minimum shop in the basket now so that at least there's no delivery charge. At least customer service got you sorted!

Glad you got it resolved @BananaBonbon. And @GettingLardy thanks for the heads up. I didn’t realize they still charged you delivery fee.

Get some UHT in or extra normal and freeze it .

They may still charge you for delivery because they did use the fuel and labour (which is what the delivery fee is part of) and not being able to deliver wasn't their fault. It just means you weren't home during your delivery slot.

You could check on their website and see if they refund delivery if undelivered. Otherwise, you'd lose both.Flowers

@BananaBonbon

It’s due in half an hour, it’ll already be on the van so I can’t ring and cancel it. Fuck fuck fuck.
Arrggh. I posted after reading this post.

Just seen your latest. Glad it's sorted now, OP.

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints

Let this be a lesson op Grin in future do as pp suggested & use something decent (wine, fizz, spirits) as a placeholder or put all your weekly basics in. That way if you do forget you've got your day to day bits & only have to think about meals.
This doesn’t seem like a great suggestion for someone who is clearly on a tight budget.
Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/10/2021 11:18

I did this and Waitrose wouldn't take pity and cancel when I rang them the day before - even though I'd reserved my slot with a £60 bottle of champagne that I didn't want! But it was my mistake so I had to own it and get over it.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/10/2021 11:19

Wow, which supermarket was this OP? I might have to change from Waitrose.
