Question about Halloween party invite for dc

Hi all, my dd (4 yo) has been kindly invited to a Haloween party by one of her classmates via WhatsApp (the mum messaged me and I accepted). As far as I am aware only about 2 other children from her class have been invited and have accepted the invite but I suspect they will have a few other children there as well that they know from personal friendships/relationships. My question is :do I need to dress up as well 🤔 or is it just sufficient for my dd to dress up. I'd rather not dress up to be honest, but if dressing up is the done thing then will have to sort myself out pretty quickly. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I had a similar situation when dd1 was in Reception. I wore all black (to be honest most of my clothes are black anyway!) and some bat earrings. I also borrowed a couple of dd's spider hair clips. That well I felt spooky enough to fit in with fancy dress but not so much that I'd feel silly if both other adults dressed up!

There are loads of those headbands with springs and glittery pumpkins, ghosts, bats etc. I would just chuck one of those on. Token effort!

I have a Halloween t shirt!! Think it was 5 quid!!

I'd just message the mum saying "Would you like parents to wear spooky clothes too?"

I don't imagine adults need to dress up, but if it is a small party at their home are you sure you're invited to stay? Dropping off would be normal here.

Kanaloa · 18/10/2021 19:49

I would say you don’t have to but a skeleton t-shirt or something would be fun.

Thank you all for your replies, some great advice. @Stompythedinosaur yes , I was given the option to drop off or stay with the child , given that they are only 4 and my one has allergies and carries an epipen i thought its best for all concerned that I stay with her. I can also help out if needed . I am so grateful my dd was included and not excluded because of her allergies.

I would say a witchy hat or some Halloween style deely boppers is all that is needed. Does the host mum know about DDs allergies?

HeeHawSeeSaw · 18/10/2021 20:48

@Hellocatshome thank you for replying. Yes, host mum knows about allergies I will be taking some snacks for dd so she won't be having anything there. I will also be taking some treats for the little ones there.

Pick some ear boppers or a hat up from pound shop and that'll be great!
