Attaching cot to bedside (7 month old)

Sorry, posting hopefully for traffic as Parenting is quiet, and I'm on a bit of a timeline.

I'm looking to get a bigger cot that I can take the side off, and attach to my bed. We have the Shnuggle Air but even when we use the expansion pack there's a gap because of the metal bedframe on my bed. I find the Shnuggle quite bulky anyway (we've always had to use the co-sleeper as just a cot beside the bed, so he's ended up in with me instead) as the legs create an even more sizable gap between bed and cot so I'm hoping another cot could help.

Will the bedframe always cause an issue with a gap? Can I safely fill this gap? Which cot would you recommend for side carring?

We've been bedsharing but he's a very active boy, so I think we'd all get a wee bit more sleep if I attached a cot to the side so he can have a bit more freedom of movement. He's 7 months and still breastfeeds through the night, so I feel this is the best option all round.

TIA!

Hi OP. We went from snuzpod to Next2me Forever a couple of months back. The forever is meant to last until they're 4 and turn into a strange looking bed (although I doubt we will be using it that long! ) anyway it's a great side sleeper and can be turned into a non Co-sleeper with the side pulled back up. I don't find there is a gap as there is a little lip type thing that you line up the matress and it fits well and is meant to fit all bedframes. The feet at the bottom also fold in to help fit to most bedframes. Hope this helps.

That's fantastic, thanks so much! I'd never heard of the Forever version!

Yes think it's relatively new, however it is quite expensive. Luckily we were given the snuzpod by family member so hadn't spent out on two cots but if we had another would just use the forever from birth. We probably won't use it as a bed as I don't think its big enough. I don't know how long baby will be in our room but not ready to move her yet but I imagine we will make use of it as a Co-sleeper or a cot until she's 2 at least.

It does come with a pricetag but it certainly looks better than some of the things I've been looking at. Having a metal bed frame means nothing else will align without packing it out, which makes me a tad nervous. I'm sure it can be done safely but I'm a worrier so I'd rather pay for peace of mind. Think I'll pop to John Lewis tomorrow and have a proper look!

Yes, I'm the same here... can't quite feel ready to pop him in his own room yet. He still seems so tiny to me! It looks really good. Useful for the next baby too, and looks like new mattresses should be easily available!

I think it's worth it, it seems to be the only one on the market for extended Co sleeping too. My DD would definitely be in our bed otherwise and I feel so much safer with this. Also we got the sheets and matress protector very easily too, there's quite a few places selling them. Hope you manage to get it sorted soon! Smile
