How to un-purple a 6 month old?

JimHairy · 17/10/2021 13:00

Blueberry and apple purée. I mixed it with yoghurt thinking that would stop it staining everything it touched but alas, after wiping his face and hands my 6 month old DS now has a purple goatee ala Billy Connolly circa 2001. He’s very fair, so also has a purple forelock and eyebrows which I’m actually growing quite fond of although his dad is going to murder me.

Any ideas on how to unpurple him before 3:30pm??

Even the Umpa Lumpas couldn't unviolet Violet. I think it's permanent 🤷🏼‍♀️

DirtyBlonde · 17/10/2021 14:06

I'd just leave that to wear off, as it's so small.

Now you need a really good, inventive cover story to tell DH - one which doesn't involve blueberry purée

Unfortunately the only thing I can think of now is an afternoon spent blackberrying - is there a place near you where you can take him to make it so?

Or could it be the remnants of the Great Magic Marker incident? (You might have to 'decorate' an old tshirt to add verisimilitude to an otherwise unconvincing narrative)

You are quite right! Grammar fail Grin

Wait until you see the nappy (voice of experience). DS loved blueberries when he was little, I used to give them as a treat on Fridays and Saturdays as on the weekend DH was around so I only had a 50% chance of having to deal with the resulting nappy. Grin

Most of it has shifted with the lemon juice! Just this bit left that won’t budge and a patch of his lovely blonde hair looks like he’s had a blue rinse Blush

@DirtyBlonde
You can't go blackberrying now! It's after Michaelmas and the devil will haves pee'd on all the berries.

Hoppinggreen · 17/10/2021 14:14

I would probably just dye the rest of him purple so nobody notices

Honestly this might be the best option Grin

I read about milk being good to remove hair dye from the face so maybe try that.

That could make a cover story even more entertaining!!!!

Wresting your DC await from the risk of contact with the satanic slash, heroically protecting him, and doing so well there's only a tiny mark

HestersSamplerofCarrots · 17/10/2021 14:35

I wouldn’t bother unpurpling him.

I’d revel in it.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 17/10/2021 14:36

Take a positive from this OP.....at least it wasn't beetroot. A week it took for DD to stop looking like she'd spent 6 hours on a sunbed. She was 2 at the time.

HeyFloof · 17/10/2021 14:51

Had he had spag bol yet? Those are the best pictures when they're basically self tan orange coloured and wearing a spaghetti noodle hair hat Grin

BoredZelda · 17/10/2021 14:52

I shouldn’t have to, but just to reassure everyone I am in no way scared of DH’s reaction.

Yeah, it was pretty clear it was a joke. I can imagine the same conversation in our house.

12 years on, he hasn’t let me forget about the time I forgot to move the airing horse of pristine white washing from the dining room. I told him not to be ridiculous, it’s miles away, there’s no way she’ll get food that far. She was eating beans and sneezed……

chesirecat99 · 17/10/2021 14:54

Put some lemon juice on the hair, leave it in, and go for a walk in the sun. If you are worried about it irritating his skin, tie it up in a teeny tiny bunch.

You might have to live with the eyebrow.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 17/10/2021 14:55

The poo may stain your nappies purple too. Sunshine will sort it out.

Tistheseason17 · 17/10/2021 15:03

Head and shoulders shampoo strips my hair dye so should work.

Tip - next time you give it, put vaseline on eyebrows etc as it acts as a barrier.

And... we found that drying our reusable cloth nappies in the sunshine got rid of stains! 😂

She can’t leave the baby out in the sun 😱

And then you spend ages washing the Vaseline out.

Bitter experience here, DS got hold of a pot of Vaseline when he was 18 months old, and liberally smeared himself, the bedding, cot, walls, carpet, and so on. That was the time we realised he could climb out of his cot, and expertly so.

Tistheseason17 · 20/10/2021 10:17

I'm not suggesting OP gives a pot of vaseline to her baby to apply...
Vaselone comes off with soap/washing up.

There was a lovely little boy in a restaurant once eating spag bol. He had naturally bright red hair and a bright red spag bol mouth the match! At least he had a napkin at his neck so his white shirt did not turn red!
