I feel like I’m in a food rut and my kids are living off pasta. I need some inspiration!

My daughters two favourites are gammon with new potatoes, sugar snap peas and baby corn. She's also very partial to a chicken pie!

Braised beef and gravy with buttery mash - I put carrots in the mash and broccoli /peas on the side.

Sausage and mash with onion gravy. I sometimes do ‘champ mash’ and add tiny diced spring onion and peas. If you caramelise the onions for as long as the sausages cook they melt into the gravy.

Fajitas are also a great winner - cut them the same size as the chicken (we use red and yellow peppers so they’re nice and sweet) and season with an old El Paso bbq kit. Add salsa, maybe some avocado and cheese.

Cheese and Onion pie with beans.
Mac and Greens (sorry it’s a pasta one!) I make a very basic Mac and cheese but add lots of broccoli chopped really small.

Special/Vegetable fried rice. Dice onions, garlic, peppers, carrots, spring onions (any veg leftover) and fry them in a pan, add some rice and meat if you’re using, season it with some salt, pepper, a bit of Chinese five spice and some soy sauce. Serve it with some vegetable spring rolls.

Homemade pea and ham soup in the slow cooker. Add a ham hock bone with dried split peas - also has carrot, celery and onion. Cook on slow and it all melts together. Shred the ham and serve it with bread and butter.

Gammon and Chips. A little gammon joint in the slow cooker or little fried steaks with some chips, an egg and fried mushrooms or fried pineapple. It’s a 70’s delicacy.

Hunters Chicken made with the Slimming world bbq sauce. I make a big batch in the slow cooker it’s essentially a tangy tomato sauce but so much better than bbq. With chips and some chopped salady bits. It’s just a bit different.

A roast dinner, you can’t go wrong with a roast dinner.
