Surprised there isn't a thread about this terrible, terrible event. That poor man and his family. What is the matter with people that they think it is OK to stab a kind, nice, gentle man to death?

OP posts:
Teatoastandbutter · 15/10/2021 19:09

There are threads but yes, awful, just awful.

AutumnAlmanack · 15/10/2021 19:09

Sorry - I had searched but not come up with one.

What do you want people to say? It's awful, not really a debate?

We'll find out the motive/circumstances in due course.

Was looking for a thread also op

That poor man and his family.

I live in Southend, about 15 mins from Leigh. I never met Sir David but he was a huge advocate of the youth orchestra my eldest son goes to and came to every concert. He always took time to talk to the kids and seemed so lovely. He was a big presence in the community.I don't agree with some of his policies but I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. It's so shocking and senseless. Just incomprehensible.

XingMing · 15/10/2021 19:57

I suspect his murder is not going to generate a lot of MN traffic, simply because he was a Tory. The Labour bots won't pile in today, because the quickest glance at the list of causes he espoused are so far from the divisive sh*t they like to peddle. Who could argue that he was privileged to grow up in a terraced house with an outside loo and a tin bath? Or that he sponsored women's health concerns, like endometriososis and animal welfare issues, and started the campaign against fuel poverty? He wasn't my MP, but I would have been proud to vote for him, regardless of party.

There's 400 posts on the thread about his terrible death. It's certainly not being ignored.

XingMing · 15/10/2021 20:23

I posted on the less active thread first... but have since seen all the tributes and deletions on the bigger thread.

freshcarnation · 15/10/2021 20:26

He was a good man

Clocktopus · 15/10/2021 20:38

@XingMing why use it as an opportunity to try and make a political dig?

It's a hateful crime but don't turn it into an excuse to say hateful things.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/10/2021 20:39

Awful. There are no words.

Do you feel foolish now?
gardeninggirl68 · 15/10/2021 20:47

really horrific

einekleinenachtarbeit · 15/10/2021 21:34

@XingMing you'll be saying it's Angela Rayner's fault next Confused. Labour bots, tory bots all the same really and contributing to the fevered divisive atmosphere at the moment which you hate so much you brought up. Maybe stick to style and beauty next time.

XingMing · 15/10/2021 22:04

If you read my post, I didn't say anything of the sort. But I spend lots of time on MN, between S&B and politics. I didn't mention AR, even slightly, though I might hint that her attitude is unhelpful. But never ever in a million years am I going to consider taking my beautifully sharp kitchen knives outside my kitchen.

The personal attacks are really rather flattering, suggesting that you felt a need to denigrate me and my opinions individually. Which suggests you think I am making a bona fide point, accurately.

Please stop using a man's murder to score cheap points. It's quite revolting.
