The advice is to send some meter readings in to them (and then wait for your bills with the new provider to massively increase, I guess!)

Thanks demented that’s helpful.

Might be a case of heating only going on as a last resort this winter.

littlefaith · 23/10/2021 07:45

I've been switched to Shell too (from Green) to a far more expensive tariff. No point in trying to switch at the moment - all the comparisons I did gave an equivalent or more expensive price due to the cost of gas shooting up. It's going to be an expensive or cold winter...

Summersdreaming · 23/10/2021 09:14

Not looking forward to the first shell bill! I was paying £43 PM March-Oct and £73 in winter for a 3 bed semi with Pure Planet, and in credit Blush

Has anyone who has been moved to Shell had their move completed yet?

Has anyone switched from Shell yet I guess is what I am asking? I was paying a similar amount to @Summersdreaming and in credit by over £100, have had an email to say I've been moved to Shell but nothing else.

GreenLunchBox · 26/10/2021 20:47

So my new company is Shell and I've calculated the standing charge has doubled but the price per unit for gas and electricity is only a few pence more. Ive calculated I'll pay about £25 a month more. My average is ~£200 a month over the year, so it's not as bad as I was fearing from reading posts on here. More than 10% rise is not great, especially as I've not had a payrise in years, but I'll cope for now. Unless Ive calculated it incorrectly....what have you guys calculated?

Yes my move is completed @Kittensahoy

I've not had notification that mine is completed.

GreenLunchBox · 26/10/2021 20:52

@runningpink

I have just received an email to say iv been switched to Shell.

Do I have to stay with Shell or am I able to switch if needed?
And will the tariff I was on be the same or different now?
Sorry if those are silly questions.

You can switch to who you want. Your tariff won't be the same...it will be Shell's standard tariff, which is more than Pure Planet's. I've calculated it's not that much more per unit of energy used but the standing charge has doubled so it's going to be at least £15 a month more and more depending on how much energy you use.

I've not had notification that mine is completed.
Did you get an email saying your contract with pure planet had ended? I had one from purepla saying mine ended on Sunday and then got an email from Shell saying I'm with them.

GreenLunchBox · 26/10/2021 20:57

I've been working from home today and it's been so cold that my fingers have gone numb. So the heating has been on here all day!

Chasingsquirrels · 26/10/2021 21:04

Yes email saying supply is transferred and on supply with them from 17th and rates - but account details still being transferred so I can't access my account details.
So I don't consider it to be completed yet.

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/10/2021 21:10

Unless I've done by sums wrong we're just £6/yr worse off with the move to Shell. Unit price for gas/elec is broadly the same and standing charges of (£0.51/day x 365=) £186/yr versus the PP membership of £15/ mth x 12 = £180/yr. Off to check broadband deal mentioned up- thread.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/10/2021 21:35

My standing charge is slightly higher than my previous membership fee (although different to yours).
Unit rate is more than 40% higher though.

We were on a flexible tariff. Folk moving from a fix are really going to notice the cost increase. I'm sure at the start PP didn't offer fixes for this very reason: they can't afford to buy gas/elec for the fixed prices customers were paying for it.

Whatwouldscullydo · 26/10/2021 22:56

I got moved ti shell from green. I'm.yet to find out what I'm paying though there's been nothing to tell me the costings Confused

I know I'm.supoosed to he on the flexi 6 tariff but green are still taking payments, she'll haven't amd I don't know what it's all gonna cost me

Oh gosh, you're right. The standing charge is broadly similar. For some reason I had calculated it as PER gas and electric....but it's for both! I don't think I will see much difference in prices

@JamMakingWannaBe

Thanks very much, that is really helpful. I was wondering if I should trawl about looking for a switch from Shell straightaway but maybe I'll stick with it for a while and see what the bills are actually like first.

Still not sure what's happened to the credit I was in with Pure planet but hopefully it will be transferred over without any issues.

Chasingsquirrels · 27/10/2021 07:39

Ah, that's why your standing charge is more. I'm single fuel as no gas supply in the village.

Summersdreaming · 27/10/2021 09:59

My gas has doubled! From 2p to 4p, and electricity from 14p to 20p Sad

Chasingsquirrels · 09/11/2021 21:01

Has anyone had account details (as opposed to notification of transfer and tariff) from Shell yet?

LittleMo234 · 11/11/2021 09:34

Nope - I chased them last week as my usual direct debit went out to Pure Planet and I really need to know what my payments will be going forward as I need to budget. They just said I'll be able to log into my Shell account soon...
sanitygirl · 07/12/2021 07:46

Has anyone heard from She'll since their initial email in October? I cancelled my direct debit with pure planet as soon as I heard they went bust, but shell haven't been in touch and haven't set my my new account. Concerned that I've now missed two monthly payments - end of October and November...

sanitygirl · 07/12/2021 07:48

Ah just found this on their website www.shellenergy.co.uk/blog/post/welcome-pure-planet-customers

Looks like we should hear from them by beginning of January

Chasingsquirrels · 07/12/2021 07:52

I had this from them in an email at the end of Nov.

I also cancelled my direct debit, have paid the final bill to Pure Planet as a one off payment.
But I'm not bothered about being in arrears, I'd rather owe them money than be in credit and have the funds to settle it when needed.

You should be saving at least your normal direct debit amount, and realistically more as the rates are likely to be higher than you were on, for when you need to make payments.

Summersdreaming · 07/12/2021 07:57

If it's January then we will probably have moved out by then! I can see that being a pain in the ass. I might contact Shell and let them know I'm moving and see if they can speed it up a bit.
