Leaving breastfed toddler for 1 night

Hi everyone,

My little boy is 16 months and I'm leaving him for one night for the first time. He doesn't sleep through frequently and still nurses at night occasionally. Not every night.

He's used to being away from me during the day on the days i work but wondering if there are any words of wisdom out there? He will be at our home with my mam and they are very close. My brother is also going to be there to provide an extra pair of hands.

My first DD stopped feeding around 13 months and was sleeping through before I had a night away.

I've read that they are usually ok if they are aware that I'm not there etc but still feel apprehensive!

Thanks 😊

He will be absolutely fine. If he can't smell you he will be much less likely to want milk. Enjoy your night off 👍

I left DS2 for 4 days at 12m. I thought based on DS1 that we might be down to a bedtime feed when the plans were made, but oh no, he was still guzzling at milk around my working hours.
He was fine. Out of sight, out of mind.
The engorgement on day 2 was grim and I spent most of the day with a battery breast pump up my Guiding uniform, but it did settle. I was concerned as I'd had mastitis and vasospasm issues a few months earlier so wanted to keep those risks down with the pump.
Day 4, my body had calmed, but he saw me, looked delighted, latched on pronto and had the best feed ever Grin
We carried on until he was 20m.

Enjoy the night off! He'll probably sleep through!

My daughter always sleeps in for friends/relatives... Never for me though 😭
